Flight
Durango La Plata County Airport is about 20 minutes from downtown. If you have extra travel time, you can look into flying into (or out of) a larger airport like Denver or Salt Lake City, renting a car, and exploring for a few days. Possible Alternative Itineraries: Fly into Salt Lake City, Utah, rent a car, then drive 3.5 hours to Moab, Utah. Explore Arches National Park or Canyonlands National Park, spend a night, then drive 2.5 hours to Durango. Fly into Denver, rent a car, spend a night at any of the incredible mountain towns between Denver and Durango (Buena Vista, Leadville, Breckenridge, Vail, ect) Or, drive straight to Durango over some gorgeous mountain passes, about 6.5 hours. Fly into Montrose Airport, rent a car, and spend a night in Telluride, Ouray, or Silverton. These are truly some of our favorite places in Southwest Colorado, you will not be disappointed! Then, drive the iconic Red Mountain Pass to Durango. Fly into Albuquerque Airport, rent a car, and drive 3.5 hours to Durango.
Travel Note
We recommend finding a hotel or AirBnB that is close to Main Ave so you can walk around and explore our town. Hotels listed below are walking distance to Main Ave. Hotels in our area typically don't offer "hotel blocks" due to the size of our town, so it may be nice to coordinate with family members + friends to make sure you are staying near eachother. We're working on arranging a shuttle to and from our Venue, which is less than 10 minutes north of Durango.
Hotel
Two blocks from Main Ave, right on the River Trail, and has a fun outdoor patio bar next to the Animas River. Tip: ground floor Queen rooms on the West side have River Trail access, you can call to request these rooms
Hotel
This is where Jill's parents typically stay when they are visiting. This hotel is a 10-15 minute walk to Main Ave (downtown).
Hotel
Built in 1887, The Strater is "Durango's living history museum". Right downtown.
Rental Car
Durango is a small town and doesn't have a large fleet of rental cars available like most big cities, so please reserve rental cars in advance if you are planning to do so
Travel Note
Durango is quite a small town and services like Uber and Lyft are not as reliable as they are in larger cities. You can try to use Uber (we've had luck with airport pickups/drop offs), just be aware that you may wait a little while. Other taxi services that we recommend trying as well: Sunshine Rides of Colorado, Buck Horn Limousine (not exclusively a limo service), and Animas Transportation.
Shuttle
September 20, 2025 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm
A shuttle will be transporting folks to and from the venue. Pickup and dropoff will be a central location downtown, most likely the Doubletree Hotel.
Travel Note
The town of Durango rests at 6,500 feet, making it considerably higher in elevation than our East Coast friends and family are used to. Please take extra care when visiting Durango, which looks like: - Drinking more water than you are used to, even the days leading up to travel - Adding electrolytes to water to help with hydration - Going easy on the alcohol + caffeine while here - Limiting strenuous activities, especially your first day here - Be aware that altitude will increase as you drive North of Durango. (Silverton's elevation is 9,300 feet)
