Ellie and Joel’s story began in Denver, Colorado, where the two grew up together. From age 10-14 Joel spent countless hours and nights at Ellie’s house, but it wasn’t because of Ellie, it was because Joel was best friends with Ellie’s older brother, Jacob. At age 14 Ellie and her family moved to Cleveland, but the two kept in touch through social media, and through Jacob. Throughout High School Ellie and Joel were able to see each other through Joel’s visits to Clevaland to spend time with Jacob. Fast forward ten years, college degrees, different cities lived in (Austin, Columbus, Los Angeles, Tel Aviv), several interesting and emotional run-ins between the two, and a global pandemic. In April of 2020 Ellie responded to a birthday message from Joel that said, “Happy Birthday, I hope you’re doing well.” Joel messaged Ellie every year on her Birthday….This sparked a conversation (longer than the typical ones ignited by Joel’s Birthday texts in previous years). Ellie and Joel started speaking for the next couple of weeks and in July, Joel invited Ellie to visit him in Los Angeles to see if there was a real “spark.” Spoiler alert, there was! Ellie came back to “visit” a month later, but never left. The connection and bond between Ellie and Joel was created through their love of deep connection, laughter, family, friends, Jacob, cooking, food, dancing, skiing, and their Jewish values and traditions. During the pandemic Ellie and Joel spent a lot of time in one of their favorite places, Avon, Colorado, where they were fortunate enough to take advantage of remote life, ski life, and life at The Westin. The Colorado mountains became a treasured place for Ellie and Joel. On December 25th, 2021, Joel proposed to Ellie at the top of Beaver Creek mountain, Ellie said yes! Which is why you are all here reading this right now. Ellie and Joel live together in Los Angeles, California. They love spending time with their family and friends, hosting Shabbat dinners, going on camping trips, seeing live music, skiing in Colorado, going on walks in their hilly neighborhood, and just spending time together in their home. They feel blessed with the life they’ve created and cannot wait to see what the future has in store for them. We are so honored and excited to celebrate with all of you at one of our favorite places in the world. Thanks so much to our amazing grandparents (“Mimi” Linda Benjamin, “Papa” Bobbie Goldberg, “Grandma” Rolene Attias, the late “Grandpa” Albert Attias, “Papa” Micky and “Nana” Louann Miller, and the late “Papa” Andrew and “Grandma” Irene Lowinger), parents (Michael and Cindy Attias and Michael and Cynthia Lowinger), siblings (Jacob and Dana Attias, Sam Attias, Joseph Attias, Hannah and Ari Goldberg, Eve Lowinger and Aaron Myerhoff), our eight nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends for helping us create such a wonderful wedding weekend.
