City Hall Visitor Center
Philadelphia City Hall is the largest municipal building in the country, and Ellie's favorite Philly tourist destination. We recommend reserving tickets in advance for a panoramic view of the city from the tower.
Philadelphia Museum of Art
No trip to Philadelphia is complete without a visit to the Rocky Steps (and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where they are located).
The Mütter Museum at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia
America's finest museum of medical history, the Mütter Museum displays its beautifully preserved collections of anatomical specimens, models, and medical instruments in a nineteenth-century "cabinet museum" setting. We love this spot so much, we almost picked it as our wedding venue. Definitely worth a visit!
Wagner Free Institute of Science
Discover Wagner Free Institute of Science, where little has changed but the century! Gabe's favorite museum in Philadelphia, and the location of several early dates for us.
Wissahickon Valley Park
One of our favorite spots to take the dog for a walk. A beautiful, huge park that takes you immediately out of the city.
Mount Moriah Cemetery
Huge, largely abandoned cemetery on the city’s western border. Likely to see deer and maybe a fox or two roaming around the overgrown graves. Check out the apiary!
K'Far Cafe
Great Israeli bakery a block and a half from Rittenhouse Square. Weird (good weird) flattened bagels, and very rich pastries and toasts.
Uncle Bobbie's Coffee & Books
A Black-owned bookstore and coffee shop in the heart of Germantown. I have never left this place without either a book, coffee, or baked good.
Ba Le Bakery
Gabe and Ellie’s favorite Banh Mi place. Try Ellie’s choice - the BBQ Pork (#4). Gabe’s choice is the Lemongrass Beef (#8).
Musi BYOB
Formerly an usual farm-to-table BYO , now homebase for Frizwit, bar-none the city’s best cheesesteak.
Center City Pretzel Co
Not in Center City, but definitely a pretzel company. One of the city’s best independent pretzel makers. Weird hours, but worth figuring out a visit.
Tattooed Mom
A technicolor dive bar, with toys on the tables, graffiti and wheatpaste on the walls, neon drinks, and great bar food (Also, vegan friendly!).
Molly's Books & Records
One of Gabe's favorite record and book shops, and a great place to get distracted when you're looking for cheap produce in the Italian Market.
