After several chance but thorough chats over the dating site, out of the blue he texted and asked if she wanted to have dinner. It was about 3 p.m. the day of the date! She agreed because he seemed fun. And he was! They hit it off that night! And really by the fall of 2017 they were pretty certain this was a sure thing! Doug told Ellen the engagement wasn't going to be around Christmas or anything, that he just wasn't ready. Well, Ellen was getting pretty "ready" so that disappointed her. They had already picked out and purchased rings a while back and then decided they needed to slow down a bit. Yet Ellen knew all Doug needed to do was ask her. He'd told her probably early January, but when it got to Christmas Day she just "knew" he was playing tricks with her and was definitely going to ask her that day. But no, he wasn't. she didn't get the ring!! Then Wednesday after Christmas, Ellen's nephew Jason and his wife Bethany and their boys Jackson and Miles came through town. They met them for lunch. At the end of the meal Doug handed Bethany his phone and said "Bethany would you please take a few pictures of Ellen and me?" Ellen thought that is so sweet and thoughtful of Doug. Then he wasn't posing for the camera, and Ellen was quite startled when out comes the ring box and he said, "Ellen, will you marry me?" She was so shocked she could hardly get "yes" out but she did. She laughed and laughed until tears poured out of her eyes. She was overcome with delight, as was Doug. Bethany got everything on film!! What joy they both experienced! So, we welcome you to our nuptials and delightful afternoon garden party! We are hosting a relaxed afternoon in the warm Thomasville sunshine.
