Ellen and Andrew met at work. Their first date happened accidentally after taking a mutual friend out for birthday drinks. Long after the others left, they sat together talking, laughing, and forgetting there was a world beyond each other’s eyes. Soon they found themselves delighting in museums, sharing entrees at fancy restaurants, strolling along the waterfront, or slow dancing in jazz clubs. Dates would often end late at night under the stars in the Boston Public Gardens. It didn’t take too long for Ellen and Andrew to know that it was time to move in together. Ellen brought along her cat Jeremy. Soon after Piper Beatrice their sprightly mutt came bouncing into their lives. These four became the foundation of a little family that spent weekends bailing water out of flooding campsites, flying/falling down ski slopes, or flipping and handcrafting furniture for their apartment. When the pandemic hit, Ellen and Andrew surprisingly found some space to thrive. Slowing down they suddenly had time to work on themselves and the pressure of global strife put into perspective what mattered most in life and to each other. They spent a chilly October weekend celebrating their third anniversary. Ellen set up a whole homemade lecture series of nerdy topics Andrew loves to research as a gift to him. They spent the day learning and talking about the big ideas of life and the world. Serendipitously, that same night Andrew woke Ellen in the small hours and took her to a field to watch the Orinoid meteor shower - a recurring set of shooting stars that visits every year around that time. Underneath those falling stars, Andrew asked Ellen to marry him. She stood shivering in the chilly air with her shoulders hunched and her glasses fogging over her widening pupils. As tears rolled across her shocked but brightening face, she, much to Andrew’s delight, said yes. Now they would like to bring all of you together to share in the love and joy they have found!
