There are tons of hotels, air b&b’s and historic inns that are located in New Orleans! I may try and get a hotel block at the Westin, if a lot of folks are interested in this location. Feel free to book accommodations that are near by Nelson street, downtown, or Irish channel area where we will likely be for the after party.
Parking is available at Audubon Park, near the tree of life. There is additional street parking near the tree on Laurel Street or one of the surrounding blocks. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1mHOwHPfgHD8o7FwXZzdPV_zvIuhG3-_c&usp=sharing
Drive or Uber (or a long walk) to 7716 Nelson Street - the home of Laurie and Steve Olson. Street parking is available but limited in the neighborhood. We suggest parking on one of the streets adjacent to Nelson street as it is quite tight and will already have many cars parked on it. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1ME9BzDmtZQPje215TLTw_uBQkY_835fZ&usp=sharing
At Zony Mash Beer Project - one of our favorite new breweries in New Orleans. We suggest an uber or lyft for the safest transportation option. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=12Ppe3j65tRAU3g032U2j4QxWhCvlwy63&usp=sharing
One of the most popular traditions during New Orleans weddings is the famous second line parade. At a wedding if signifies the start of a new beginning of life for the bride and groom. A Brass band leads the bridal party and the guests from the ceremony to the reception venue or it may take place at the reception itself. A second line parade has two parts. The first line is usually a brass band and the ones being honored, the newlyweds. The newly married couple leads the second line holding uniquely decorated umbrellas or parasols. All of the guests who want to join in the celebration make up the second line. The guests form a line behind the band and the newly married couple dance to lively music with handkerchiefs or cocktail napkins in hand!
