A tale as old as time... they both swiped right! As many of today's modern love stories start, Ella and John Patrick's started with a simple "hey, how's your week going?" after matching on a dating app... She messaged first! A week after exchanging messages, John Patrick asked Ella to meet up for drinks, and they had agreed to meet somewhere in Hoboken. Ella lived in North Jersey and John Patrick lived at the shore, so Hoboken was a decent middle ground for both to travel to. Ella's friend Jess suggested they meet at Belo Bar, and in true Ella fashion, she was 15 minutes late. While John Patrick calmly enjoyed a cocktail at the bar, Ella was frantically trying to find a parking garage close by that was open past 9pm. With no luck, she gave up and decided that the garage closing at 9 would be a solid escape plan, should she need one. Little did she know, she would be driving back home, well past 9pm knowing she and John Patrick would write a love story together. He was wearing a lavender v-neck tee shirt and jeans. She was wearing a navy blue floral dress. And even though it was 95 degrees out in the peak of summer, they decided to sit outside. After sitting on the patio at Belo bar chatting for 45 minutes, Ella and John Patrick had still not be seen by the wait staff, so they decided to move her car to another parking garage a bit further away. They walked together hand in hand as they talked about their families, friends, and their lives, before returning to Belo bar to continue their wait for a cocktail. Another 30 minutes had past before they realized going back to the same bar was not the best decision. They agreed to walk to Texas Arizona where they finally enjoyed a cocktail and began to fall for each other while sharing the jumbo soft pretzel. Though neither wanted the date to end, it was past 11pm and time to part ways. However, John Patrick had to at least try and get Ella to agree to just a few more minutes together and asked her to take a walk along the river. Although it would have been very romantic, Ella had decided she had seen too many murder documentaries that teach you not to walk by a secluded river at night with a man you just met, so she wasn't going to take that chance. John Patrick walked Ella to her car, and gave her a respectful goodnight kiss. The two drove to their respective homes, not really knowing this was the beginning to something truly beautiful.
