Here are recommendations based on Elizabeth and Gage's favorite spots! *this will be updated soon!*
Most transactions inside Casa de Campo are handled in US Dollar or via major credit cards, so you won’t have the need to change US Dollar to DO Pesos! Cashless payments are preferred at most points of sale at CDC. Casa de Campo also offers the option of charging all expenses to the guest's room. That said, it’s still helpful to have a few US dollars or Dominican Pesos (DOP) on hand - especially for tipping staff such as bellhops, housekeeping or drivers. There are two ATMs located near the main lobby for any withdrawals needed! Taxes & service charges at the resort: It is important to mention that the Dominican Republic charges a 28% tax to almost everything (18% government taxes and 10% legal service tip). Tipping at the resort: While the service charge covers much of the staff cost, it is still appreciated (but not required) to leave small tips for service staff if you feel you’ve received extra-special service- typically a few dollars (or equivalent in DOP) to bellhops, housekeepers or drivers.
Attire for all other events are listed on the schedule page. Wedding Day Attire: Black Tie Our ceremony will take place in the iconic Altos de Chavón plaza - a timeless and elegant setting - and we’d love for everyone to dress the part! Think elevated and chic, with room for color, texture, and personal flair. Gentlemen, Tuxedos or formal dark suits are requested (lightweight fabrics encouraged), and kilts are welcome (just be mindful of the heat!) Ladies, Floor-length or formal midi-length dresses are preferred. We’d love to see bold, vibrant, and colorful hues, playful fabrics, and elegant details - this is the night to bring out your most fabulous look! Any color besides black or white please! Also, please note the majority of the ceremony venue is cobblestone, so we recommend block heels, wedges, or formal flats instead of stilettos. Need some inspo? Check out this pinterest board! This is one of our favorite parts of Casa de Campo: each room/villa comes with a complimentary golf cart, which you may use to travel anywhere throughout the property. Complimentary shuttles are also available via the concierge. We are providing transportation to and from the Altos de Chavon area on the wedding day -- more details are on the Schedule page. Golf cart distances: -From the hotel to Minitas Beach (welcome party location): 10 minutes -From the hotel to La Marina: 20 minutes -From the hotel to Altos de Chavon (ceremony location): 20 minutes *We recommend having Google Maps active to get around easily* Link to property map: https://www.casadecampo.com.do/resources/resort-map/
Yes! We will be providing a shuttle service to Altos de Chavon (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception location) and from the main lobby of the hotel. For all other events, please utilize your golf cart or the complimentary shuttle service provided by the concierges!
The Dominican Republic enjoys a tropical climate, which means warm, sunny days and the occasional surprise rain-shower. At our time of year (September into October) you can generally expect daytime temperatures to range from about 78 °F to 90 °F, with nights dipping slightly - typically into the mid-70s °F. Humidity tends to be high throughout the year, so the air can feel warm and balmy - perfect for beach days, but you’ll definitely want to pack light, breathable fabrics for your stay. Because it’s tropical, the weather can be unpredictable: a bright sun-filled morning may turn into a brief rainstorm or passing cloud, but then back to sunshine again. Plan for warm, comfortable weather, and bring something light for any unexpected showers or breezy evenings!
While we absolutely adore your little ones, we’ve decided to keep the main wedding festivities - including the welcome dinner, ceremony, and reception - an adults-only celebration, with a few exceptions for immediate family. We hope you understand and can still join us for this special weekend! That said, Casa de Campo is a family friendly resort! Children are welcome to join us during the Thursday Minitas Beach & Pool Day (this area is typically adults only but since we have it reserved we can allow kids) and during Saturdays Recovery Day at the villa. If you need childcare during the wedding events, Casa de Campo offers professional nanny and babysitting services. Nannies provide care during the day outside of your room or villa, while babysitters offer care inside your room or villa during the evening. We highly recommend booking these services in advance. The cost is $26.00 USD per hour. CDC nannies have wide experience, speak English and Spanish, and are professionally trained in First Aid, CPR, and childcare. To arrange childcare, please contact Family Programs at (809) 523-3333 or email a.concierge@ccampo.com.do. More info can also be found here: https://www.casadecampo.com.do/experiences/for-families/
Yes! There is WiFi throughout the main part of the resort, including all guest rooms and villas. Just keep in mind that because the property is so large, the WiFi doesn’t cover every area. If you want to be sure you can call, text, or use maps at any time, we recommend setting up a temporary international phone plan before you travel through your mobile provider
Please do not! Save yourself the packing room :-) We will have a card box for those who wish to bring a wedding card. We know a destination wedding is a big ask, and we are truly grateful to those making the trip to celebrate with us in the Dominican Republic. Your presence is the greatest gift we could ask for! For those who've asked, we have put together a registry. There's absolutely no expectation, but if you'd like to celebrate with a gift, you can find it on the Registry page of this site.
No worries! We understand this is a lot of information to process. Please reach out to us via our wedding email, thehallsilvawedding@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can :-)
