Have you heard the one about the boy and girl who grew up together, but were never in the right place or time to tell each other how they felt? Before they knew it, they were older, and life, as it has a habit of doing, got in the way of what could have been. This is not that story. This is the classic tale of two people walking into a bar on the same night, at the same time, 16 years after the last time they saw each other. When I saw Liz standing at the other end of the dive bar, it felt like we were kids again. I walked right up to her, with the confidence that she'd be happy to see me, tapped her on the shoulder, smiled, and said "hi." To which she sternly responded, "What?!" as if to say, "Great, I'm being hit on...no thank you, go away now." Thankfully I'm persistent, and thankfully it was only a fleeting awkward moment before she recognized me. We've been inseparable ever since, and the rest is history.
