Indiana Dunes National Park
Try the Warren Dunes Trail or 3 Dune Challenge for a beautiful start to your day! The dunes are a unique terrain close to the Inn as a fun daytime activity. Note that there is a $9 parking fee at the park in certain places. Fun Fact: We did the 3 Dune Challenge with Tim’s parents this winter as we completed wedding prep! John kept calling it the 4 Dune Challenge after having us descend the second dune to the beach and climb back up.
Lakeside Inn Beach
Across the street from the Inn is a beach with a beautiful sandy shoreline. Spend time unwinding and trying to spot Chicago across the lake. Just know there is a steep staircase to get down to the water. Please be cautious. Fun Fact: This photo is from the beach in December 2018 when we went to the Lakeside Inn for New Year with Elizabeth’s cousins!
New Buffalo
Head over to New Buffalo for some shopping, a local art gallery, or some drinks at the Stray Dog Rooftop! Also home to Oinks, an adorable ice cream shop, and Redamaks, a cherished local burger joint. You might see more of Redamaks this weekend ;) Fun Fact: Tim’s parents visited this same Redamaks in 1985! This photo is from August 2019 when Tim and Elizabeth visited for the first time on the way up to Cleveland.
Three Oaks
Head over to Three Oaks where you’ll find some vintage shops, the Journeyman Distillery (they do tours!), and some great food at restaurants like Froehlich’s Kitchen and Pantry. Fun fact: This is a photo from May 2023 when Elizabeth went to Journeyman with 4 of her 8 now-bridesmaids!
Union Pier
Head to Union Pier for lunch at Milda’s or Whistle Stop! These are perfect lunch options for those staying close by. Fun Fact: Tim and Elizabeth get Milda’s most trips up to the Bonoma Family lake house (only 15 minutes from the Inn). Go for the piagia sandwiches!
