Friday, April 25, 2025

Sangeet

7:00 pm

Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
7575 East Princess Drive, Scottsdale, AZ 85255

Formal Indo-Western

The word "Sangeet" means music, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding, it translates to "Music Night" or "Musical Party". This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple, but the bonding of both families, and is usually held a day before the wedding. We invite all of our guests to this event to celebrate the Indian culture with music, dinner, drinks and dancing. Please arrive no later than 7:00 PM and be ready to cheer on the bride and groom's family and friends as they show off their best Bollywood dance moves!

Saturday, April 26, 2025

Sushil's Baraat

9:00 am - 10:15 am

Lagoon Lawn - The Fairmont Princess
7575 E Princess Dr, Scottsdale, AZ 85255

A baraat is a vibrant and festive wedding procession in Indian culture, typically featuring the groom's family and friends. The baraat sets the tone for the wedding festivities, making it a memorable and cherished tradition. The baraat is meant to bring the groom to the wedding venue with much pomp and fervor and is a custom that originated in North India but is adopted by other Indian communities today. The groom, decked in traditional Indian finery, is usually seated on a ceremonial horse (or elephant, chariot, or vintage car) as his guests lead the way to the ceremony and his bride, dancing. The baraat is welcomed by the bride's family - Elizabeth's side welcomes Sushil, his family and friends!

Wedding Ceremony

10:45 am - 12:00 pm

Lagoon Lawn | Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
7575 E Princess Dr, Scottsdale, AZ 85255

A traditional Hindu wedding ceremony is a rich, multi-day event filled with rituals, symbolism, and cultural significance. These rituals symbolize the union of two families, cultural values, and spiritual beliefs, creating a deep connection between the couple and their families. The ceremony is often colorful, filled with music and joy, celebrating love and commitment. Our Hindu wedding ceremony will be conducted in the ancient Hindu language of Sanskrit and translated to English by the priest (for all to understand). Catered lunch for all to follow.
