How We Met

November 10, 2009

Liz and Ryan met on the first day of training ahead of starting at a big tech company. Nick Congelosi was, at that time, Ryan's college roommate and had grown up close to Liz in Rockport. On an unassuming Tuesday in November 2009, two of Nick’s friends attended an event for a new job, unaware they were about to form a lifelong connection. Ryan was instantly captivated, especially by Liz’s laugh, leading him to seek out every chance to be with her. This naturally led him to offer his assistance and crack jokes as they navigated the early stages of their new jobs. Liz initially felt adrift, but she was pleasantly surprised by Ryan’s genuine demeanor and willingness to help, which immediately put her at ease. This marked the simple yet strong beginning of their friendship.

The Proposal

August 30, 2024

From the moment they met, Ryan felt a special connection, secretly hoping it would lead to something more, but how could he make the proposal as extraordinary as the person he was asking? The answer: Sebago Lake State Park! Like Ryan, Liz is surrounded by a close-knit group of fierce, lifelong friends. One day, Jaime jokingly offered to help when Ryan eventually popped the question. That very day, Ryan reached out to Jaime and Cass to begin orchestrating the proposal. Together, they hatched a plan for Ryan to propose at Liz's "favorite place," a tiny, hidden beach at Sebago Lake State Park Campground. With her friends and parents in on the secret, working behind the scenes and running interference, everything fell into place. Ryan's friends, Joe and Nicole, even drove over 2 hours just to photograph the proposal. With Cass's help, Nicole snuck to the spot ahead of time, hiding in the heat for the perfect moment. The rest, as they say, is why you're here on their wedding website.
