How does the money work there?

Answer

Some places accept American dollars, some accept credit cards/bank cards(depending on your bank and your arrangements). BUT Costa Rica's currency is Colón. Also, Amex credit cards are less likely to be accepted but capital one is a good one that is typically accepted there. Just a heads up on that too!
