Don't miss historic St. Augustine while you are visiting! It's only 40-45 minutes away from Jacksonville and worth the trip. It is the oldest city in the Unites States, founded in 1565. It is a huge tourist attraction for the rich history, the Spanish colonial architecture, and amazing restaurants/bars. There is so much to see - St. George Street, the Castillo de San Marcos fortress, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, the Lightner Museum, and the historic buildings that have been transformed into Flagler College just for starters. There are countless restaurants and bars lining the streets that are unique and fun! Reach out to Elizabeth or Joseph for recommendations...because we have a lot!
This stunning holiday light display is second to none! Put on by the residents of Blackhawk Bluff neighborhood, this light display is like nothing you've ever seen before. It's a drive-through experience and the extravagant lights go for blocks and blocks.
This elegant rooftop lounge has gorgeous views of downtown Jacksonville. Our very talented good friends are in a band called the Gloria Cherish Trio, and they perform there regularly - we love to go see them play. The sister restaurant, "River and Fort", can be found downtown St. Augustine. And while the menu is very similar, the views are completely different and worth the visit. They have 2 different rooftops to chose from overlooking St. Augustine and the famous fort.
This restaurant and bar has a big wrap-around deck that overlooks the marina. Great spot to catch sunset!
For those interested in a history lesson and some nature... Fort Clinch was established in 1864 and still standing today. They offer guided tours of the site. There are also nature trails for walking. This will require a car to get there since it is at the tippy top of the island. To enter the state park it costs $6/car.
