If you want to visit any of these places, often the resort concierge can help organize a trip for you. Mangaratiba Beach: A local beach close to the resort where guests can enjoy sun, sea, and beach-town vibes within a short ride. Praia Grande: Very near the resort; good for a quick beach outing without traveling far. Boat/island excursions: From Mangaratiba you can arrange boat or speedboat trips to nearby islands or “paradise-island style” destinations. Cachoeira Véu de Noiva: Near Mangaratiba. A scenic waterfall and natural-pool spot; nice for a half-day outing. Parque Estadual Cunhambebe: A larger natural-reserve/forest-area nearby, featuring waterfalls, trails, rainforest scenery; good for more serious hiking. Serra do Piloto: forested areas, old-era ruins, trails, and a mix of natural beauty and heritage. Povoado do Saco: Ruins from the colonial/imperial era, interesting for guests who enjoy history, architecture, or a glimpse into local heritage.
Probably the most emblematic city in South America. As you know, our wedding will take place 2 hrs South of Rio, and all flights will arrive there. If you are going to spend time in Rio de Janeiro, we recommend staying in Copacabana or Ipanema beach, & spend a day walking its long promenade. Of course you cannot leave Rio without taking a train up to Christ the Redeemer to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Other recommendations include seeing Sugarloaf Mountain (breathtaking cable car views), the Selarón Steps (a vibrant mosaic staircase perfect for photos) and the Lapa nightlife for samba dancing and live music. Another option for those wanting to spend a couple of additional days in the area. Ilha grande is a large island right across from our wedding site. It would suit those guests wanting to experience being closer to nature and simplicity. For those with the ability to slip some additional vacation days, we recommend guests to venture two hours north of Rio de Janeiro to visit the beautiful peninsula of Buzios. This stunning place has some wonderful beaches and a secluded feel to it. The road to Buzios is super safe and the highways are well maintained. One option is renting a car and driving the way there if you are comfortable. There are also tour and shuttle options available.
