FAQs

Question

Can I go to the Safari Park before the ceremony?

Answer

Yes! you will check in at the front kiosk any time after the Safari Park opens or you can just show up a little earlier than the ceremony.

Question

Can I wear heels?

Answer

You can, but stilettos are not recommended as some of the walking will be on grass, a wood bridge, or paved paths.

Question

Can we tour the park, leave, and come back for the ceremony?

Answer

Yes! Just make sure you get your hand stamped when you exit. About an hour and a half before the ceremony they will have a check-in desk under the big pavilion out front, just in front of the turnstiles.

Question

Can I take Uber or Lyft there?

Answer

Yes, you will just need to tell the parking attendant in the booth that you are there for our wedding and they will let the Uber or Lyft through.

Question

What will the weather be like that time of year?

Answer

Weather can always be unpredictable, but typically temperatures are around 68 during the day and will drop to the 50s at night.

Question

Is the wedding outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will be held outside on the Harusi Lawn, which overlooks the Giraffes and Rhinos. The reception will be held in the Longhouse near the Tigers, which is mostly indoors, but has two large openings. The Longhouse has heaters, but you may want to consider a jacket for when the temperature drops at night.

Question

Is there much walking?

Answer

Nope! when you arrive at the Safari Park you will follow signs for our wedding that will direct you to the shuttle that takes you to the ceremony site. The shuttle drops guests off right at Harusi lawn and will return them to the Village after the cocktail hour. From the Village its about one quarter mile to the reception. For guests who have disabilities or simply can't walk that far, there will be transportation to the reception via golf cart- please notify us if you believe you will need this service.

Question

Can I pet any animals?

Answer

Sorry, but no, it's still a zoo. You can sign up for different experiences through the zoo that get you closer (see the things to do section of this website) Note that anyone trying to get into an enclosure will get the ENTIRE wedding kicked out, but more importantly it's extremely unsafe for the animals. And yes, previous weddings there have ended early for this reason.

Question

Is there a block of rooms anywhere?

Answer

No, we elected to provide guests the opportunity to choose where they would like to stay in San Diego. The hotels we have listed are closer to the venue, but some guests may be inclined to stay downtown or in an Airbnb by the beach. We are more than happy to provide specific recommendations as needed.

Question

What time should we arrive?

Answer

Please arrive to the shuttle no later than 5pm to ensure you make it to the ceremony site in time.

Question

What is the parking situation?

Answer

Parking at the Safari park is free with the voucher enclosed in your invitation. If you lose or forget your voucher we can provide one when you arrive.
