Sachuest Beach, locally known as Second Beach, is a South facing, mile-long, family-friendly beach with good surf and great sand. Surfboard rentals and lessons are available and you'll want to grab a Del's Lemonade from the truck at Surfer's End - the west end parking lot.
Go for a long walk throughout downtown Newport. Start your journey at the top of Thames, by Washington Square to eventually make your way to Bowen's & Bannister's Wharf. Finish your excursion by ending at one of our favorite bar's for a well deserved beverage at the end of Thames.
One of five national wildlife refuges in Rhode Island, Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge is home to 242 acres that offer an important stopover and wintering area for migratory birds in Middletown. Newport's 3.5-mile Cliff Walk is the perfect place for a lesiurely stroll with the Ocean on one side, and the century-old, Gilded Age mansions on the other.

10 miles of coastline meets one winding road on Ocean Drive. You’ll pass by Gilded Age mansions, Doris Duke's Rough Point, Hammersmith Farm where Jackie Kennedy grew up, Brenton Point State Park, Fort Adams State Park, and more. We suggest a picnic at Brenton Point or a drink at the lawn at Castle Hill while en route!
An almost daily stop in the summer and fall for Liz and Adam, Sweet Berry Farm is a post-and-beam farm market, café, and pick-your-own farm. It's located a short distance from Second and Third Beach. A great stop for fresh apple picking or a quick but delicous breakfast/lunch in their self-serve cafe that offers everything from prepared dishes, soup, sandwiches, all made in-house.
The largest contiguous open space on Aquidneck Island, Norman Bird Sanctuary protects 300 acres of diverse habitat and 7 miles of hiking trails, one of which ends at Hanging Rock with panoramic views overlooking Second Beach and beyond.
