Matt and I met on the school bus early on in 9th grade and quickly became best friends. Many hours were spent playing video games, watching movies, nerding out over history stuff, or going to Target to simply entertain ourselves. By the way....what ever happened to Torengos? After high school I went on to Iowa and Wisconsin before returning to Minnesota, while Matt headed for Seattle and ultimately the DC area. While we don't get to see each other or communicate as much as we'd like these days, we still seem to pick up right where we left off as if no time has passed at all.

BRIDE: Back in '06 on Capitol Hill, we posted an ad for a roommate, and Liz found us. We instantly became friends sharing experiences like nightly dance parties, cooking dishes from both sides of the Mason-Dixon line, trips down the shore, boating, UGA alumni softball and charity auctions, just to name a few. The memories are too numerous to list (and too ridiculous). Liz is like a sister to me and I'm excited to see her marry Matt this fall. GROOM: I met Matt through Liz in '12. He noticed the "Sons of Ben" shirt I was wearing and we instantly connected over soccer. We've spent numerous weekends at the Jersey Shore drinking excessively, flying kites, and waiting for Diplo. Although he shares my sentiment that you can never be overdressed, I don't plan on upstaging him at his own wedding.

My friendship with Matt began about five years ago over our beloved Manchester City FC. Since that time, we’ve bonded over music, adventure, life’s ups and downs, and our shared Midwestern state of mind. What started out as a small group of fans has now grown to over 50 members from all over the DC area, owing in no small part to Matt’s dependability as a leader and steadfast dedication to all of his endeavors. Likewise, he’s become my most dependable friend; and together with Liz, has enriched my life with so many unforgettable experiences and unwavering support at the times I needed it most. Even early on in our friendship, I think I always knew I’d see this day, and it will truly be one of the great honors of my life to stand with Matt and Liz at their wedding.

Pete and Matt got to know each other through the myriad of family events they've attended together over the years, slowly becoming #BestFriends. From making early Thanksgiving dinner with Liz and Pete's dad down in Richmond to DJ-ing as 4 of them drive `10 hours in a car down to Georgia, Matt has always been there to support Elizabeth with love and the rest of her family with a constant stream of puns and arcane historical facts about Flags and obscure battles. I suppose I met Liz the first day of seventh grade, but I don't recall that. Because our true first meeting came about a week later when she full-body checked me on the soccer field and sent me flying - after I'd already passed the ball. She helped me up, I shook it off, and we had a laugh. We've been laughing ever since, through French class, concerts, dance parties, road trips, sailing adventures, and countless sleepovers. Though we may live far apart, our humor still unites us. I've been fortunate to share some giggles with Matt these past few years, and am so excited to share in their special day!

Matt and I worked together years ago, and bonded almost instantly over the lunacy that comes from working in an empty store. Humor somehow eventually led to trust, and we saw each other through both great and tragic times. When he began dating a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, I prayed it would last, and instead it flourished. Liz is more than just a person with great taste in football teams and romantic partners; she is a dependable and trustworthy friend. Whether I needed a place to crash when I had run out of options or just a great couple to take me to a soccer game, Liz and Matt have been a source of aid and strength. Just as they were able to share one of the great days in the life of my wife Meg and me, we feel incredibly fortunate to be able to share this day with them.

Rachel and Liz met in the first couple months of their freshman year at the University of Georgia. A mutual friend told Rachel that she had to meet this awesome girl from out of state, so Rachel left a message on her whiteboard, and friendship was born. Through highs (porch times) and lows (learning to ski), good football seasons and bad, having Liz as a friend was one of the best things to ever happen to Rachel, and she is thrilled to be supporting Liz and Matt in this next chapter of their love story.

Liz and I met through our mutual friend (and fellow bridesmaid) Jenn Cotter when we traveled to Riviera Maya, Mexico, in 2011. After a fun-filled trip that included hiking, swim-up bars, pina coladas, and so many nachos, we began working together at a boutique consulting firm in DC. We bonded over conference planning and work travel, which allowed us to become great friends.
