Will the event take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both! Our wedding venue is on a beautiful overlook by the Muir Woods, along with indoor clubhouse space. The ceremony will take place outdoors. Weather dependent, the dinner will also be outdoors. There is also ample seating and space inside the clubhouse for indoor portions of the reception.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We recommend semi-formal and comfortable for the outdoors. We also recommend bringing an extra layer, as the weather can cool down significantly in the evenings.

What is the color theme?

Answer

If guests want to be on color, I would recommend wearing bright but natural colors. Think greens, sky blues, and flower colors (not necessarily floral patters, but the bright colors you could find on flowers). If you are trying to be on theme, I would recommend staying away from neutrals. We do not care if you stray from the theme.

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Parking at the venue itself is limited and will be reserved for vendors and those involved with setup. We will instead work to organize a shuttle from the nearby Holiday Inn to the venue itself and back, both before the ceremony and after the dinner. The exact time has not yet been decided. If you would like to join the shuttle, rsvp positively that you will attend so we can plan accordingly. If you anticipate not needing a shuttle (ride share / uber, walking from nearby location, etc.) please indicate otherwise. If you change your mind, please let me know (this is mostly for a rough head count at this point, and won't lock you into your decision).

I have a dietary restriction, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes, please let Ellie know as soon as possible if you have any special food requests. The sooner you let me know, the easier it is to make accommodations.

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony starts at 3:30pm, so we recommend guests arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the event. We ask that guests not arrive more than 45 minutes early.

Will there be a hotel block?

Answer

Due to the area being a popular tourist destination during August, we are unable to secure a block. However, we are able to get discount codes for select hotels in the area. We recommend guests stay at the Holiday Inn Mill Valley. See the travel page for more info. We also recommend guests book their stays sooner rather than later, as hotels may fill up quickly.

Yes, the children of guests are welcome! Just make sure to let us know the count.

What's the weather going to be like?

Answer

August in the Muir Woods will likely be warm (70s to low 80s) during the peak of the day. During the evenings, it can get down to the 50s. We recommend that guests bring a layer, as it can become chilly once the sun sets.

Can I explore the trails by the venue?

Answer

Yes! Please keep in mind that the small paved trail right next to the venue (that connects to the sun and redwood trails), is private property and belongs to the Tourist Club. Guests can pass through, but shouldn't loiter or congregate in large numbers.

Since this is an outdoor wedding, is smoking permitted?

Answer

Due to wildfire risks, smoking is strictly prohibited by the venue. We require that guests do not smoke at the venue.
