We met on a Friday night at a local country bar. I first saw Eliza from a distance and was instantly attracted to her eyes. Before I could get a chance to introduce myself, she walked away where she was lost amongst the crowd. About an hour later, my friend and I were getting ready to leave when Eliza walked towards us and stood in front of us looking toward the dance floor. I saw my chance and asked Eliza to dance a few two-step songs. After dancing and sharing some laughs on the dance floor, we exchanged numbers and began a relationship circled around weekend country dancing.
We had planned a trip to San Francisco months in advance, we were excited and both looking forward too it! Little did I know, I was in for a surprise. I literally had no idea. We spent the first couple of days exploring, trying new restaurants and enjoying a weekend together in a new city. It was nothing out of the ordinary as traveling is something we love to do! San Fran had been on our to do list for some time. I remember Javy saying he wanted to go to a nice dinner out by the waterfront over by the pier and suggested we dress up a little. I thought ok, well I didn't really pack anything fancy but I will make it work. As we were getting ready to go out it began to rain and I thought oh great, well this is going to suck! I'm not a fan of rain! And my first thought was my hair is going to be ruined, I had just curled it. Anyways, we made our way out to the pier, had dinner at such a great restaurant right by the waterfront. It was delicious and the view was a bonus! After dinner, we headed over to Ghirardelli Square and shared a yummy chocolate sundae. Right when we were walking out, we noticed the rain had cleared and there was a beautiful sunset right above the waterfront. Javy decided we should take a walk over on the pier. I protested! My feet were hurting and I was ready to call it a night and head back to the room. But he talked me into it, the sunset was breathtaking and I figured ok, a quick walk would be nice. As we headed towards the pier, somewhere along that walk we paused and all I really remember is him telling me all these beautiful words and before I knew it he was on his knee! It all happened so fast but at the same time, in that moment time stood still. I'll never forget that beautiful smile on his face, when I said yes!! But his response was, "I wish you could have seen the expression on your face when I kneeled". It literally did catch me by surprise! One of the best moments of my life!
