Please note that we will not be providing transportation to/from the venue given its proximity to the center of Newport. If you plan on driving, please have a designated driver as there will be no overnight parking. Otherwise, Uber is also available in the area.
The ceremony is currently planned for outdoors but may be moved indoors if it rains. Cocktail hour will occur outdoors, on the covered terrace (which has heating if it’s cold). The reception will occur indoors in the Rosecliff Mansion ballroom.
Dress code is black tie. Tuxedos and evening gowns are preferred. We are beyond excited to host the wedding ceremony and reception at Rosecliff Mansion. To that end, we want to honor the historical significance of the Newport Mansions by keeping with the spirit of parties that would occur in ballrooms such as Rosecliff’s during the Gilded Age. While this is a somewhat traditional custom, we kindly ask that evening gowns not be red or black.
Our bridesmaids will be in mismatched light pink / pink dresses (including florals), to the extent that factors into your outfit choices!
Flying in from Europe or elsewhere in the US: we recommend flying into Boston, renting a car and driving down to Newport. If you would rather not drive, you may take the Amtrak from Boston, MA (South Station) to Kingston, RI and Uber from there. From NYC: We recommend either driving or taking the Amtrak to Kingston, RI.
Besides the rehearsal dinner (required for wedding party and family), there will be no mandatory wedding events prior to May 19th, so you may arrive in Newport any time before the 5:45pm start on 5/19. For those in the area on 5/18, we will be having a very optional, very casual cash bar welcome event at Kempenaar's Clambake Club.
We will serve hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour, followed by a two course plated dinner and light dessert. There will be an open bar all evening, beginning at cocktail hour.
We recommend staying in either Newport or neighboring Middletown, RI. We have a small room block allocated at the Pell Hotel (see Travel tab). We have stayed here before and thought the hotel was clean, modern and comfortable - however, I would note that the hotel is a 10-15 minute drive to the center of Newport (and 15+ minutes to Rosecliff Mansion). Otherwise, there are a large number of accommodation options including Airbnb, the Newport Marriott Hotel and Spa, the Vanderbilt Hotel, and the Hotel Viking, to name a few.
While we love children, we can only accommodate those 21+. Thanks for understanding.
