Sean and I "knew" each other from our local gym. We both secretly had crushes on each other and at some point would find this out. The first excitement was becoming Facebook friends and liking each others photos here and there. This was the extent of it for a while. Until one day I went up to UMASS Amherst to visit a friend. After aimlessly walking around searching for a party we bumped into a friend of mine from Bridgewater State - how random!- who invited us to the party he was heading to. After a few minutes at the party, through the crowd of people I spot Sean. I was in disbelief. Moments later he looks right at me and points at me. Still in disbelief I look around,,,he was pointing at ME. I make my way over to him and we get to chatting as if we'd known each other for years. The chemistry was there, the sparks were flying. Us bumping into each other was FATE. I have always believed that and I still believe that. To live only 15 minutes from each other and attend the same gym but to bump into each other at a random party all the way in Amherst, MA, that was no coincidence.

Sean and I were on our annual Saco River trip- our 5th year! We got there nice and early, got all of our gear set up and waited for all of our friends to arrive. Once everyone was there and settled in Sean took out a root beer nip for each person and we all gathered around. He gives a little speech about how tough the year had been with Covid but here we are in our favorite place, and we raised a toast. I finished my nip, turned to put it on the table and hear "Elise." I turned around to see Sean on one knee. "You are the love of my life. Please marry me." I turned around and fell to the ground. I was completely shocked, full of emotion, and head over heels happy. I get to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life. BEST. DAY. EVER. We spent the next hour calling our family and friends who were not there will us to tell them the news. Our best friends both captured the proposal and it's a video we will have and cherish for the rest of our lives.
