Michael surprised me one day with tickets to Christmas in the Adobes, where we can walk around the historical adobe buildings in Monterey. We walked around Monterey for hours, exploring with our friend Kassi. Michael explained that we need to be at the Pacific House at 8:45pm before it closes. When we arrived, we walked around the inside for a few minutes, and all the sudden Michael started sweating. I said "take off your jacket, silly." He said he needed to use the restroom and he will be right back. Little did I know he was doing some last minute setup for our special moment. He walked back into the room that kassi and I were still in, and lead us out to the back patio. The garden had strung up lights throughout the courtyard, lighting up all the trees, with a coy pond in the center. Michael led me straight to the coy pond to keep me from figuring out what was going on. All of a sudden our favorite song, "You Are the Reason" by Callum Scott, filled the courtyard. I started getting confused, I couldn't figure out what was happening then Michael grabbed both of my hands and pulled me towards him. He began to reminisce on our time together and professing his love for me, and then he said "I have a very important question for you." He then started to get down on one knee, and then I was no longer confused. "Will you marry me?" And I said "YES!" After all the excitement, our parents and Michael's State Park coworkers popped out from behind a bush in tears and excitement. It was a magical night, and I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together!
