Kevin and Elisa’s story started with friendship. Elisa moved to the U.S. from Nicaragua her senior year of high school, where she first met Kevin. From there it was just a matter of time before they became the best of friends. However, unbeknownst to Elisa and as many photos show (because Kevin always made sure to be by her side when taking group photos), Kevin had secretly fallen in love with her. Finally, after hiding his feelings for nearly a decade, while strolling along the National Mall in D.C., Kevin uttered the scariest words Elisa could hear from her best friend: “I love you.” Luckily for Kevin, Elisa was not scared away by this Ted Mosby-esque stunt. Since then, Kevin and Elisa’s love flourished through life’s many challenges. They endured being apart during a year long-distance relationship, moved Elisa across the country, and then weathered Covid’s isolation. Despite these changes, Kevin is elated to share the rest of his life with his wonderful and ever supportive best friend. Elisa is equally as lucky to be sharing the rest of her life with her kind-hearted and loving best friend.

After 2 years of dating, Kevin and Elisa were ready to take the next step. MARRIAGE But where and how could Kevin propose to someone as wonderful as Elisa? He knew that the soft breeze and crashing tides of the ocean at twilight have always been her favorite. There was no better place than their upcoming vacation to the Islas Del Rosario in Colombia. After Kevin secretly enlisted her sisters to help plan the surprise, the happy couple made their way to the islands. On the day of the proposal, Kevin feared that Elisa would see through his surprise. Thankfully for him, she did not think twice about his unwillingness to part with his backpack (where the ring was hidden), nor did she question why he suddenly wanted to take pictures. Yet, despite his best attempts to hide his plans, all became clear to Elisa as they walked down the candle-lit pier together to watch the sun set over the horizon. After nervously playing along with the picture taking charade, Elisa was stunned to find Kevin on his knee with a ring in his hand. Between tears of joy, stammering, and after what felt like the longest pause (to Kevin), Elisa happily said yes as the sun slipped beneath the waves.
