How It All Began

Love at First Cubicle

While Trevor and Elisabeth began dating on a trip to Murphy’s, CA, in true Trevor fashion, this love story began months earlier at the Pepperdine Library. Elisabeth was bringing Trevor a coffee to get brownie points for a fraternity event but couldn’t find him. For those who did not attend Pepperdine, the library’s second floor offers communal space where students go to hangout as much as study, while the serious studying happened in cubicles on the first floor. Elisabeth had never set foot on the first floor. They spent more time together at Greek events and hangouts with friends. A spark formed as the year went on – meetups grew longer and interactions became a bit more playful. When Elisabeth was sick while studying for finals (on the second floor of the library), Trevor drove to campus to bring her Advil. The pair celebrated graduation at the Bungalow where Trevor made his move and the two shared their first kiss. The First Summer The spark grew over the summer. Elisabeth’s dad, Tom, invited Trevor on a family trip to Murphy’s… before telling Elisabeth. The pair officially began dating, and Trevor got his first taste of the Lomis experience – attending parties, being volunteered to give a toast to Tom’s mentor, Dr. Renner, immediately after meeting him, and talking late into the night. Later that summer, Elisabeth got a glimpse of Trevor’s childhood on a trip to Chico, CA filled with wakeboarding on Lake Oroville and floating the river with Trevor’s best friends, one of whom lent Elisabeth his favorite hat (that she promptly lost). Growing Together The following year, with Trevor at UCLA Law and Elisabeth at Pepperdine, their lives continued to intertwine. Elisabeth dragged Trevor away from studying to have fun with friends, while Elisabeth’s grades saw drastic improvement. She even began studying on the first floor of the library. Trevor and his brother Jonny became honorary members of the Lomis household, regularly attending Sunday dinners with the family. Trevor gave Marissa, Elisabeth’s sister, driving lessons after she failed her test twice (she passed on the third try). Elisabeth became a (mostly) willing participant in Trevor’s hobbies, attending car shows, leaving at 4am for ski trips, and embracing the role of passenger princess on morning drives in the Malibu canyons. After a tough day, Elisabeth drove to Trevor’s house, but he was delayed at school. Despite being a bit nervous to meet Trevor’s roommates, Lindsay and Sarah, without him there, Elisabeth knocked. Trevor arrived an hour later to find the girls laughing like best friends. Sarah and Lindsay will both be bridesmaids. The Real World In 2019 the couple entered the workforce. They managed LA traffic and busy work schedules but made time to cook dinner together and sneak in the occasional ski trip. They also conquered an existential threat during the pandemic when Trevor grew out his hair and entered his man bun era. It wasn’t pretty, but Elisabeth’s love never wavered (too much). In 2021 the couple took a leap, moving to Dallas, TX. They were rewarded by discovering a great city, sharing their first apartment, making lifelong friends, and spending lots of time on the lake. It is only fitting that Trevor proposed in a city that had started such a monumental chapter for them. The Proposal After Elisabeth told him that he couldn’t surprise her with a proposal, Trevor began plotting. Trevor found the perfect spot and planned several decoy vacations, but the key was getting Elisabeth to plan the outing. After a few very subtle hints, she took the bait and suggested dinner at their favorite steakhouse. They prepared to walk to dinner, only to have rain threaten to derail the plan. Elisabeth was luckily undeterred, and Trevor interrupted their walk by getting down on one knee. The two instantly agreed on the destination, and are excited to invite you to Murphys, a place that is so special to them, to celebrate their biggest adventure yet.
