Summer of 2016, we were both giving online dating a go. Gabriel's subscription was about to expire and Elisa was leaving town in a week, but Gabe liked how Elisa felt about ice cream (its own food group) and invited her out to Brain Freeze Creamery. Of course she couldn't pass up free ice cream! Her hair was frizzy and she was on her way to meet up with someone else, but Gabe wasn't put off--he asked her to lunch a few days later. Before they knew it, a few hours had flown by. Two days after that they were enjoying live music and an evening stroll around downtown. And then Elisa left town. But she came back a week later after a trip to Wyoming (during which she sent a picture to Gabe of her enjoying some huckleberry ice cream). They went hiking around Liberty Lake and Gabe brought fresh huckleberries for her (who shares precious huckleberries with someone they've just met???). A shared love of ice cream, hiking, and huckleberries and doing what it takes to make a transcontinental relationship work over more than 4 years find us looking forward with great anticipation to a lifetime of adventure together.
