The best way to get to San Miguel from either Queretaro, Leon, or Mexico City airports is to arrange transportation with a private transport company (BajioGo linked in our Travel Details section). In Mexico, Ubers are rarely allowed to pick up passengers in airports so your other option would be a Taxi or car rental.
We do not believe renting a car is necessary. San Miguel de Allende is a relatively small city where most points of interest can be reached on foot. Taxis and Uber are also readily available inside the city if needed. If you decide to rent a car, we recommend using Google Maps or Waze for navigation and would avoid driving by night since highway signs are not the most intuitive and can be a bit confusing.
We recommend staying near the old town center as everything will be within walking distance. We have provided several highly rated hotel options in the Travel Details section. Outside of that list, there are many other boutique hotels available as well as plenty of AirBnB properties.
We kindly request you join our celebration in formal (black tie optional) attire.
The reception venue is only a short 10 minute walk through the town center from the church. Alternatively, you can hail a taxi or Uber for a short car ride to the reception venue.
In November, expect temperatures averaging 70-80° during daytime and 50-60°F in the evenings. To ensure your comfort throughout the day and evening, we recommend packing a light jacket or sweater. The venue for the reception is outdoors, so make sure to bring a jacket!
To allow all of our guests the opportunity to let their hair down and enjoy themselves, we’ve elected to make our wedding a child-free event. We truly wish we could invite all of our guests’ children to our wedding; however, we are only able to accommodate the children of our immediate families.
It might be a good idea to bring a few pesos already with you though it is not necessary. There will be currency exchanges in the airport (though they will likely have poor exchange rates!). Most places around town will accept major US credit cards and, if needed, you can get pesos at a bank’s ATM or a currency exchange in San Miguel.
Although tap water is safe for showering and washing hands, it is not safe for consumption. Only drink bottled water during your stay in Mexico. If you’re served a cup of water at a restaurant, it is most likely filtered or bottled and safe for consumption.
San Miguel de Allende is considered a very safe city in Mexico. We still strongly advise general travel precautions and would avoid venturing to the outskirts of town.
