Question

How do I get to the North Fork?

Answer

If you're flying into JFK, you can... 1. Take the Air Train to the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) of which Greenport is the last stop. If you're not renting a car, we recommend staying in Greenport where many activities are within walking distance, and you can Uber to the Friday party and Saturday reception. 2. Drive on the Long Island Expressway (LIE 495) until it ends. Stay on the Main Road, and you will be on the North Fork. If you're coming from NYC, you can... 1. Take the Hampton Jitney to the town in which you're staying 2. Take the LIRR 3. Blade?

Question

I'll be on the North Fork for the weekend of the wedding. What should I do in between wedding events?

Answer

Wow, we're so glad you asked! Here are two itineraries. For families with children... Start Friday afternoon with a ride on the Greenport carousel. Grab a coffee at Aldo's while you walk along the marina and in town. Stop at Goldsmith's toy store for a treat. Eat dinner at First and South before you end the night with ice cream at Greenport Creamery. On Saturday morning, get breakfast at Crazy Beans before heading out to Orient State Park to rent kayaks or paddle boards. Head to Harbes Family Farm for berry picking, a corn maze, or to interact with the animals in their barn. Older kids may enjoy mini-golf at Tick Tock. Have a sandwich at Eric's on the North Road (Rt 25) before getting ready for the wedding! For adults... Happy hour starts Friday with oysters and cocktails at Little Creek. Wander around Greenport's shops like the Time Vintage antique store. Grab a reservation at American Beech for amazing food and vibes. After dinner drinks begin at Greenport's take on a speakeasy, Brix and Rye, and end at Claudio's. Wake up Saturday and grab a bagel at Goldberg's or avocado toast at Bruce and Son. Ride your bike on Soundview Avenue to Horton's Point Lighthouse and walk on the rocky beach. Get lunch and hear live music at Greenport Harbor Brewing company before heading to the wedding!

Question

I'm going to spend a week on the North Fork. What should I do?

Answer

Even better!!! Explore Shelter Island by taking the Greenport ferry across the Peconic Bay. There are great restaurants there, including Vine Street Cafe, 18 Bay, and Sunset Beach (also a club— your best shot at spotting celebrities.) Explore the Hamptons and Montauk by taking an additional (even shorter) ferry from Shelter Island to Sag Harbor. Favorite restaurants include Bostwick's Chowder House (a Bobby Flay fave), 1770 House, Duryea's, and Harvest on Fort Pond. For a beach that doesn't require a town parking permit, check out Kirk Beach in East Hampton. Eli and Annie have also rented surfboards at East End Surf club for Montauk shredding. For more North Fork fun, check out wineries like Lieb, Rose Hill, and McCall. In addition to wines, McCall has a Friday burger night in their vineyard with patties made from the grass-fed cows that they raise on their property. Be sure to stop to pick up local produce at farmstands along the Main and North Roads, like Sep's, Countryview, Sang Lee, and I & Me Farms.
