Travel Note
Here there is everything you need to know money wise: (Of course, it will depend by which travel style you want to embrace. You can go very luxurious, or really cheap, it's your choice! Also, if you want to visit very touristy places, costs will be higher). This website is really simple to use, I would strongly suggest trying to budget your trip before deciding if you will join us. Generally, I WOULD RECOMMEND SAVING AT LEAST $4000 PER PERSON for a two week vacation in Italy (Flight included). You can go a little cheaper, or much more expensive... the choice is yours! It's better to be safe than finding yourself without money in a foreign country!
Hotel
This is where we will be having our Wedding. We booked the whole venue, and there is space for 30 guests in this venue. The cost will be $40 per person a night (breakfast included). If you are interested in staying here for the night (or as many nights as you want), contact me before all the rooms are full. This is a perfect place if you want to party with us without having to worry about transportations. Warning: the night of the wedding, there probably will be very loud music until very late.
Flight
Verona (VRN) is the nearest airport to our location. However, if you fly into Milan, it will be much cheaper. Plus, there are plenty of transportation services leaving from Milan. The easiest way to get around is by train from there. Flights usually range from $900 to $1500 per person from SLC to Milan. The earlier you book, usually the cheaper it is. BIG TIP: Buy the insurance for your flight!
Flight
To enter in Europe, everyone needs a passport, and its expiration date might be AT LEAST 6 months in advance after the return date. You might need proof of a return ticket. U.S. citizens may enter Italy for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa. EU Citizens do not need a Visa to enter in Italy. Peruvian citizens do not need a Visa for up to 90 days. Japanese citizens do not require a Visa to travel to Italy. However, keep checking the international laws to see if anything changes.
Travel Note
Alright, I am guessing that if you're coming to our wedding, you will want to visit Italy as well. In fact, for how much flights cost, I would suggest staying in Italy (or Europe in general) for at least 2 weeks. This is my list of places I really enjoy in Italy: Garda Lake (1-5 days) Verona (1 day) Mantova (1 day) - my home town! Cinque Terre (1-3 days) Venice, with Murano and Burano islands (1-2 days) Torino (1 day) Orta San Giulio (half a day) Como Lake (1 day) Trento (1 day) Dolomites (as long as you want) Bologna (1 day) Anything in Emilia Milan - if you like fashion (1 day) Rome (2-3 days) Florence (1-2 days) Siena (1 day) Frasassi Caves (2 hours) Vinci and San Giminiano (1 day) Literally anywhere in Tuscany Carrara (half a day) Perugia - the best chocolate (1 day) Civita di Bagnoreggio (3 h) Napoli (2 days) Sorrento, Ischia, Salerno and Positano (3-4 days) Puglia deserves its own trip I would keep Sicily and Sardinia for their own trip. They're gorgeous!
Rental Car
Renting an automatic car for two weeks: If you are over 26, the price starts from $350. However, if you are under 25, it starts from $900. Since many people want to travel around Italy, if you're interested, I can make a group chat with all the people who want to carpool and split costs. Warning: if you are not comfortable with driving, or if you have driven only in the US, beware. Streets in Italy are tiny, and traffic can get really messy, especially in big cities. Also, if you are not comfortable with parallel parking, I would not recommend getting a car. Public transportation is really good in Italy. There are many trains, buses, and even boats to get wherever you want. Especially if your goal is to visit the most popular cities (Rome, Florence, Venice, etc), public transportation is the way to go. However, if your goal is stopping in less touristy places, I would probably rent a car. I would budget about $20 a day per person for public transportation.
Train
This website is where I usually buy all my train tickets for Italy. You can also use Trenitalia, Italo, and a couple of other websites. Or, at bigger train stations you can buy the tickets directly at the entrance. Another possibility is going to a local shop, a Tabacchi, where you can usually find train and bus tickets.
House Or Rental
If you don't like our hotel or if it is full, no need to panic! There are plenty of hotels and airbnbs close to our location. The price range is from $60 to $120 a night for two people. My parents reside in Colombare (BS) if you want to stay close-by, but any location in the range of 20 km will work just fine! We are thinking of organizing a shuttle from Sirmione to go to the Venue. If you are interested, please contact me.
