Mom loved life and was a source of energy to others. She took pleasure in each moment and had an incredible ability to connect intimately with the people she loved. The first sentiment is one that she lived by, a Campbell Family tenet that our Great Great Grandmother had written, framed, and hung in their house for all of her children to keep close to their hearts. It states, The Measure of Life is Growth, Not Length of Life Not Material Possessions The second sentiment is in her own words, recorded in a memory 30 years ago from Evelyn Albee. Evelyn remembers showing her a few pieces of her Blue Willow China, and all of a sudden Mom began, ‘Once upon a time there was a young man and a young lady who were deeply in love. They wanted to be married but their parents objected to this union. The parents sent guards to capture the young lovers but their love was so great, they were transformed into heavenly love doves to escape their captors.” While this sage legend does not specifically describe our relationship, it does reflect some key components that Mom lived by and that we embody together. -Do not take yourself too seriously -Be kind and honest with one another -Laugh -Be creative and support each other's creativity. -Always take time to play -Find Compromise in Challenging Times -Believe in yourself and each other The Blue Willow China from the story is pictured below in the footer.
