Things To Do

For those thinking of coming before/after the wedding, we're thrilled that you'll get the chance to explore the country! We're available for any questions along the way, and already have some ideas planned the week before (coming soon). In the meantime, here is a list of some of the incredible places throughout the Land:
The Old City

The Old City

Jerusalem, Israel

Home to three religions, Jerusalem is probably one of the most impressive, awe-inspiring cities in the world (not to mention divisive). Explore the streets of the Old City, visit the Western Wall, go up to the Temple Mount, crawl through tunnels in the City of David, and visit the Garden Tomb and Mount of Olives.

The Galilee

The Galilee

Tiberias, Israel

Unlike the bustle of Jerusalem, Galilee is a perfect retreat. Visit fishing villages, the ruins of Capernaum and Bethsaida, and enjoy the serene lake as stories come alive.

Jaffa Old City

Jaffa Old City

Yafo, Israel

Our home and favorite stomping grounds! Must-sees are the house of Simon the Tanner, and a sip of pomegranate juice as you walk along the cobblestone port.

Tel Aviv Beaches

Tel Aviv Beaches

Tel Aviv, Israel

The weather will be beautiful in mid-October, but be careful- the last thing you want to look like coming to the wedding is a piece of strawberry-covered toast.

Shuk Hacarmel

Shuk Hacarmel

Tel Aviv, Israel

For those interested, we'll take everyone on a morning walk in the Carmel shuk - bustling with spices and fresh fruits/vegetables to stock up food for the week. There are some delicious street food stalls along the way, coffee, and a cheese shop where Matt and I had our first informal date. Elizabeth is friends with all and will make sure you get some good deals.

Florentine Restuarants

Florentine Restuarants

Florentine, Israel

The neighborhood above Jaffa is Florentine, the capital of all things hipster. Complete with graffiti tours, it's a great place to go out for drinks in the evening, or brunch on a sunny afternoon.

Western Wall

Western Wall

Jerusalem, Israel

What used to be called the Wailing Wall, this is the holiest site in Judaism. The wall was originally built as part of the expansion of the Second Temple begun by Herod the Great- it's sure to attract crowds of worshipers and visitors throughout the year.

Mount of Olives

Mount of Olives

Jerusalem, Israel

The garden where Jesus went to pray the night He was betrayed. "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

Bethsaida & Capernaum

Bethsaida & Capernaum

Capernaum, Israel

Two of the villages where most disciples came from. The ruins still stand, including the ruins of the synagogue Jesus spent much time at.

Garden Tomb

Garden Tomb

Jerusalem, Israel

One of the two locations believed to be Jesus' crucifixion, burial, and resurrection site. It's an incredibly peaceful and scenic part of Jerusalem, where you can take communion, re-read the story, and rejoice at the empty tomb!

Nazareth

Nazareth

Nazareth, Israel

Jesus' hometown back then, a bustling Arab city today. Matt and I love getting a shawarma, walking around, and looking out over the Valley of Magiddo. We highly recommend adding this special city while on your track to the North.

Mount Arbel

Mount Arbel

Tiberias, Israel

Just a cool mountain next to the Galilee :) For those looking for a gorgeous hike overlooking the Sea of Galilee, Mount Hermon, and the rest of the Golan

Golan Heights

Golan Heights

The North, Israel

The Land of Milk and Honey! But really... it's gorgeous. Waterfalls, hikes, Vineyards, wineries, vineyards, and more wineries.

The Dead Sea

The Dead Sea

Lowest Point on Earth, Israel

Careful now, it's one of the more unique places on Planet Earth. Saltiest water there is, making you float with no effort. You best not go in if you have a cut or open wound, lest you experience the pain of a thousand burning suns. (Ladies, don't shave that morning. From someone who learned it the hard way - Matt)

Wineries

Wineries

Everywhere, Israel

Sarah, this one's for you....

Masada

Masada

Dead Sea valley, Israel

The historic ruins of a Jewish city that made its last stand against the Roman army- on top of a plateau that overlooks the entire Dead Sea valley. A spectacular view! (+there's a gondola, so you don't have to walk the entire way ;)

Tur Sinai

Tur Sinai

Jersualem, Wedding Venue, Israel

An organic farm nestled into the foothills of Jerusalem surrounded by olive tress - we'll spend the evening eating, dancing and celebrating the night away!
