Our first meeting in the Golan was a bit of a blur for us both: I (Elena) carry only a dim recollection of his cute broken finger, and he my 'pig boots' as he so eloquently put them. After several months of a blossoming friendship, Matt texted me with an offer for a motorcycle ride. I ran downstairs to grab my leather jacket, strapped on the helmet he handed me, and we rode off into the night. As he regaled me with tales from this magical town called Weskan, and I shared snippets of my childhood in Beirut, we laughed at how different the worlds we came from are. Many dates, coffees, late night walks later, we decided we like each other enough to overlook those differences ... and well, the rest is history!
On a gorgeous rooftop overlooking a Mediterranean sunset! At some point, Matt had to tell me he was about to propose, as I hadn't caught any of the fifteen previous cues. If you know me, this will come as no surprise, as I often forget which hand is my left and right. After a few moments of stunned silence, I said yes and lept in his arms.
This is our home and where we plan to be. We've been overwhelmed at the excitement from friends and family who are able to join, and deeply hope it will be a trip that blesses you, in more ways than one.
Woo!! Israel's fairly modern, so no particular dress code here. Swimsuits to enjoy the beautiful beaches, a light jacket for the evenings, and some stretchy pants for the wedding dance floor ;) Lastly, some sites require covered shoulders and knees
In the coming months, we'll be sending over suggestions for things to do, a general outline of our schedule the week prior to the wedding, and recommendations. Feel free to reach out at any point with questions you may have from us 'locals'.
