Laura and Mike met briefly their Freshman year of college at UF. Mike walked into a house party. Laura thought he had guido hair. Sparks did not fly. At the end of their Sophomore year, they met again at a house party. Mike still had guido hair. But sparks flew. After a year and a half of trying to convince Mike that less hair gel was more, Laura won both the battle and the boy (Mike edit: "won both the marathon and the man"). Fast forward to the post-college working world, Laura and Mike lived in Jax for 2.5 years before Mike took a once-in-a-lifetime job opportunity in New York City. And thus began a 2.5-year, sometimes fun, sometimes challenging, super expensive, always worth it, long-distance relationship that made the two stronger as individuals and partners. Mike moved home Memorial Day weekend 2018 (thank God) and a quick year later Mike asked Laura to marry him on a NYC return trip in Central Park! People were shocked they got engaged after such a short 7.5 year relationship, but they did their best not to care what others thought. April 2020 marks a decade of Mike and Laura's love story (11 years if we're counting from meet cute but lets be real, the first meet wasn't cute). And what better way to celebrate the beginning of their next chapter (or next book?) than with their families and best friends?! PS... April 2020 would've been cool, but October 2020 sounds way better, right? Thanks for that, Coronavirus.
