If you're looking for a nice dinner with a good bar that is close to the hotel for Friday night, this would be a great option! You likely will want to make a reservation if you have a larger party. It's also very close to Downtown Dover which has many old historical buildings that are worth at least driving by.
Drive the loop, or park and take a walk! This is the place to go if you want to see some of the best natural beauty that Delaware has to offer.
Go for the beer, but stay for the tater tots. Or vice versa. Honestly, just go.
Fifer Orchards is a really cute orchard just a little bit South West of Dover. Layna's family has been friends with the Fifers for many years!
If you're feeling lucky, Dover Downs is the not only the home of the Monster Mile (NASCAR) Speedway, it is also a pretty big casino. Don't just go to gamble though... there are some great restaurants inside!
It's about an hour from Smyrna to the closest beach (Lewes), but if you have the time, it is definitely worth the trip. If you want a more commercialized beach town, go another 10 minutes south on Rt. 1 into Rehoboth, where there is an awesome boardwalk along the beach, or tons of (tax free!) shopping at the outlets. Whatever you do, while you are down there, make sure you grab a slice of Grotto's Pizza!
On many Saturday evenings you can find a group of Layna's family here at Seafood City. Whether you're looking for a full on Bay Area crab feast, or a more simple bucket of steamed clams, this is the place to go!
