We seriously can't wait to steal you away for ourselves for a few days! One of our favorite things to do is listen to some great tunes, head in a random direction, and camp somewhere cool for the weekend – and there is no better way to honor our relationship than doing something we love with the people we love!
The first time we met was at a beach gathering. I was attempting to park my car in a sandy parking lot and got it stuck in the sand (ford, RIP). Johnny (who was wearing a wetsuit, rawr) managed to get it out of the sand and parked it for me (jc doesn’t remember any of this, perhaps he helped women in distress often). We didn’t actually start dating until about a year later, we saw each other again at a karaoke bar! He told all our mutual friends that he thought I was cute, so I went ahead and asked him out on a date on MySpace (yes, we’re ancient). Our first date was kayaking around the Channel Islands harbor, which was the perfect start of our adventures together. 1 apartment, 1 home, 4 dogs (Chloe counts), 8 roommates, and TEN YEARS later....here we are.
The Vikings hosting a game in London in 2017 led to the perfect setting to propose! Johnny (being the die hard Viking's fan) never got his way to seeing the game, but the idea lead us and three of our best buddies to travel to Europe! This trip was going to be an expensive one for us, so Elaine didn't even think twice as to whether this would be the setting for a proposal (a proposal to go into dept maybe). Our first destination was Paris. Johnny brought with him a huge pad lock with our names engraved (aww!), to be a further nuisance to the city with their ever growing love lock problem on all their bridges! Johnny's plan was to propose to Elaine at the bridge of Post Neuf, which was one of the first places we visited upon waking at 5 am (jet lag at its finest). Early mornings in Paris aren't quite the most romantic setting (its the ideal time for trash pick up, street sweeping, and for the homeless to find breakfast). So, Johnny didn't get his love lock down (lol). Evening came, so we all decided to see the Eiffel Tower all lit up. Access to the top was closing in 15 minutes, so we rushed on through (we were the last group to enter). Johnny's plan almost turned into disaster as he had trouble getting through without the medal detectors going off. Realizing he still had the huge pad lock in his pocket, he went to one of the barricades and attached the lock onto it (at which a street vender had to remind him thats not the place where people leave their love locks, lol). At last, he was able to enter! We went up the elevator, Elaine said, "Ooooo, this is scary" and Johnny made the perfect fearful face! We got up to the top, exited the elevator, and our buddies then stared at us for the most awkward amount of time, all took out their phones, yelled "picture time!" and boom...JC was down on one knee with a ring and Elaine just grabs it and cries (the ugly kind). And now you'll all be able to witness more ugly crying on September 23rd!
