Our Story by Ekta

Sean and I met sophomore year of college in 2010. I was Vice President of a pre-medical organization and Sean decided to come see what the group was all about. The first time I met Sean, I thought he had the most beautiful eyes in the world. I came home that night and told my roommate about him and said to her "I'm just gonna have to keep dreamin' cause there is no way a guy like him will ever like a girl like me..." Fast forward 6 months, Sean decided that he would join the organization after all! I didn't think much of him as I was focused on my studies until one day, a mutual friend called me up and asked if I wanted to meet up and hang out with a group of friends. I reluctantly decided to go but it ended up being one of the best decisions I made. It was the night Sean and I connected (and later found out that he was the one who made our mutual friend call me to come get me to come out!) Soon after that night, we casually began spending time with each other, meeting up after class, studying together & getting to know each other. On February 14th, 2011, we had our first official date. Sean took me to one of my favorite Indian restaurants and afterwards we went on a romantic boat ride in City Walk. It was such a special night. Shortly after, we began to fall for each other and on March 2nd, 2011 he snuck into my bedroom while I was in class and placed a dozen red roses on my bed along with a card that said "Will you be my girlfriend?" And the rest is history!

The Proposal by Sean

I had known for a very long time that I wanted to marry Ekta. She is perfect in every way. Beautiful, smart, funny, and down to earth. What I appreciate most about Ekta is that I can be myself around her at all times and can share anything with her. She is my best friend. When I proposed to Ekta, we had been dating for 6 years. It started becoming a reality when we randomly passed a jewelry store and decided to go in and look at rings "for fun". Maybe we could get some free wine or beer we thought! Then we stumbled upon the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. And it looked incredibly gorgeous on Ekta's finger. So I started thinking... what was I waiting for? It was almost perfect timing. I had just finished the hardest part of my medical school training and she was getting close to finishing PA school. A few weeks later, I mustered up the courage to call Ekta's parents and ask if I could marry their daughter. They both then gave me their blessings, and her mom actually started to cry because she was so happy. I then started planning on how I was going to actually propose. I wanted to make it really special for her. I asked if she wanted to go on a "staycation" sometime to get away for a weekend and she was so excited! I then hired a photographer, booked a room at one of the nicest hotels on Clearwater beach, made dinner reservations at a romantic Italian restaurant and asked her family & my family to join us. The day of the proposal, I made sure my sister took her to get her nails done and also asked the photographer to meet us at the pier around sunset. Prior to dinner, I asked Ekta if we could stop at the pier beforehand to watch the sunset. She agreed and so we took off our shoes, walked in the sand all the way to the edge of the beach, and stared out into the water. I then got down on one knee and ask her to marry me. It was the best feeling ever when she said "YES!" We then met with our families and celebrated an incredible night!
