The Quiet Knowing

They met through baseball and uniforms. She was the Vice President of her son’s Little League. He was responsible for coordinating uniforms for sixteen teams. What started as logistics—emails, phone calls, last-minute adjustments—became a near-daily line of communication over two months. Neither of them set out looking for anything beyond getting the job done. After a brief in-person meeting to exchange samples, she left the meeting 'knowing" that somehow she was going to end up being with him. The working relationship evolved naturally. Collaboration built trust, and trust developed into something more personal. When the uniform order was complete, she invited him to dinner as a thank-you. During that dinner, the shift was undeniable. He told her that their priorities aligned and that he didn’t want to miss the opportunity to choose her. She felt the same. When she met his daughter for the first time, he made his intentions clear: he was serious about a future together and wanted to marry her. It felt steady and certain rather than rushed—two lives aligning in a practical, grounded way. Later, when she asked what being with her had revealed to him, he answered: Love. He hadn’t realized how much he needed it until he experienced it with her. The early months weren’t defined by fantasy. Real life arrived quickly, bringing challenges that tested them from the start. Instead of creating distance, those moments clarified their commitment. They learned that if they could stand side by side through difficulty, they could build something lasting. Together.
