The Wedding Website of Emma Harris and Jack Breheny
We are doing things a little differently! Please feel free to reach out to Emma or Jack with any questions.
Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Due to the housing arrangements, we have only accounted for those who are named on the invitations. If you have a special person in your life you would like to include, feel free to reach out to Emma or Jack directly.

Question

I'm confused. Am I invited to your wedding ceremony?

Answer

We've decided to celebrate our wedding ceremony with just our immediate family. In order to share this exciting time with all of our favorite people, we decided to rent a house for the rest of the week following our ceremony and invite all of our friends to come stay with us for an extended celebration. If your invitation says "May 26-30," you will not be attending the ceremony, but don't fret - you will be there for the most fun part of the week!

Question

Why does the invitation include a bunch of days?

Answer

We decided to extend our wedding celebrations for a full week! After an intimate ceremony with only our immediate family over the weekend, we hope you (our friends) will join us for the rest of the week for fun and relaxation. If you received an invitation, we have a space saved for you in the house we have rented -- we know accommodations are expensive and we hope this takes some of the stress away from celebrating with us!

Question

What should I bring?

Answer

The house where we will all be staying is well stocked with all of the essentials -- bed linens, towels, basic toiletries, snacks, and beverages. Please just bring what you normally would for a short stay at a hotel -- personal toiletries, clothing, phone chargers, etc. There is a pool & hot tub on the property so pack a bathing suit!

Question

Will I have to share a room?

Answer

Maybe. We have done our best to assign beds and rooms in a way that makes everyone as comfortable as possible. That said, there is a chance you will be sharing your room with a new or old friend. Keep in mind that unless you are coming with a partner, you will definitely have your own bed! Most rooms have their own bathroom or a bathroom shared with one other room.

Question

Are you having a formal ceremony? Where will it be?

Answer

Yes! We will be having a formal wedding ceremony in the backyard of the beautiful house we have rented. It will be relatively small, with only our family, but will still have many of the elements you probably associate with a typical ceremony. As such, it will start promptly at 5:30 PM on May 25th.

Question

Will I need a car?

Answer

In short -- no. It is expensive and often logistically challenging to bring a car to Nantucket. We have arranged to have several cars available for all of us to use to get around as needed. We also have bikes available and are within walking distance of town. We suggest you carpool when possible and leave your car at the ferry terminal off-island. If you want to explore the island you have several options. The easiest way to get around Nantucket is via cab or Uber. Another affordable option is the NRTA/Wave, Nantucket's very own public transportation. If you are interested in bringing your car on island, Ferry car reservations are available through the Steamship Authority. We recommend you reserve far in advance as they fill up quickly and will also note that most hotels do not offer parking.

Question

When is the earliest we can arrive on the first day listed on our invitation.

Answer

You can arrive anytime. We will stick around the house from about 9 AM to 1 PM to greet guests. If you arrive before or after that (which is totally fine), please just do your best to keep us abreast of your plans as we get closer so we can make sure someone is at the house when you arrive.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The majority of the time you should wear whatever is most comfortable for you! The pool & hot tub are scheduled to be open for use the weekend we arrive. Pack a bathing suit if you are interested in taking a dip! Keep in mind that Nantucket is significantly chillier than the mainland at this time of year -- you may want a sweatshirt! The rehearsal dinner and the ceremony will both be cocktail attire. For our friends, we will have one "fancy" dinner to celebrate. Cocktail attire is requested for that night.

Question

I've never been to Nantucket, what should I expect?

Answer

Nantucket is an island off the coast of Massachusetts that can only be reached by ferry or plane. Although it is small, it has all of the things you might need -- grocery stores, pharmacies, a hospital, etc. Because it is an island, Nantucket tends to be chilly, even at the end of May.

Question

Hy-Line Cruises Or Steamship Authority?

Answer

Hyline and Steamship are very similar. The main difference is that the Steamship has a fast (1 hour ride) and a slow ferry (2 hours 15 min ride) where all Hy-Line ferries are fast ferries. We suggest looking at the ferry times and determining which works best for your schedule.
