How We Met - January 2019

The Most Unlikely of Meetings

We knew of each other through choir and musical, but we had never really talked before. One day at musical rehearsal, we were both sitting with some friends waiting to be called up. All of a sudden, Lindsey feels a shoe come flying across the circle and hit her on the leg. Then, a shy and nervous Danny walked over and awkwardly asked for his shoe back. Little did Lindsey know, a child actor in the musical had stolen Danny's shoe and thrown it because it was "funny." Though we didn't say it at the time, both of us had a very similar thought: "Oh, he/she is kinda cute."

Our First Date - February 9, 2019

Two Non-Coffee Drinkers Go To a Café

One day after school and before musical rehearsal, we were both in the choir room hanging out with our separate friend groups. Danny was playing a game with his friends, and noticed that Lindsey was leaving the room to go to rehearsal. Danny had planned to ask Lindsey out that day but started getting nervous. After some friendly pushes, Danny finally followed Lindsey into the hallway and got her attention. After some nervous (and VERY awkward) small talk, Danny asked Lindsey to go get coffee the following morning. Lindsey happily agreed! The morning of the date, we met at a local café to get coffee (even though neither of us liked coffee). We got to know each other better, and after some time, Danny asked Lindsey if she wanted to meet his new puppy (aka meet his family). She agreed but had to drive him to his house because he wasn't old enough to drive. Lindsey met his family and his puppy, and then he proceeded to put on the movie "Shakespeare in Love." After realizing it was a bit much for a first date, he profusely apologized while blushing like a cherry and then put on Grownups instead (a classic)! Lindsey knew from that day forward that she would be in for a lot of laughs with him!

Celebrating One Year - February 2020

Experiencing Quarantine

After a year of dating and Lindsey preparing to graduate, the world shut down. We were only allowed to spend time with each other, outside of our families. This allowed for a lot of time together and a lot of time to watch movies and shows together. It also brought our families closer as friends, especially from doing game nights and dinners together.

Long Distance - August 2021

Making It Work

After Danny graduated from high school, he left for Liberty University in Virginia while Lindsey started her sophomore year at Millersville University in person. We planned dates every three weeks, meeting halfway in Winchester, VA. These ranged from walks and disc golf to movies and local festivals. We would only get a few hours together but made the most of the time we did get!

A Season of Trials - December 2021

Mountains and Valleys

At the end of Danny's first semester of college, we faced an unthinkable loss. Dan, Danny's dad, unexpectedly passed away and went to be with Jesus, his Savior. After Danny came home for the semester, we went through the depth of emotions and grief together. Some days were easier, others we did not know how we would make it through. Yet through it all, we learned how to be there for each other and what it meant to support one another in the hardest time. Most importantly, this season taught us how to worship and know God more together. Our families also grew into best friends as we all leaned on each other. We continually pointed each other to God's love and grew deeper in our Christian faiths than ever before.

Transferring to Liberty - August 2022

Finally Together

In the midst of the pain of the prior season, Lindsey also made the tough decision to leave Millersville and began taking online classes through Liberty. After a full semester online, Lindsey transferred in person in August of 2022. We decided to live on the same hall, which brought the most amazing friends into our lives (many of whom are standing by our sides on the big day)! Through the change, we learned the importance of reflecting on God's blessings in teaching us a lot through long distance. Being together also allowed us to check in on each other more regularly and finding more intentional time with each other!

She Said Yes! - June 7, 2024

Taking the Next Step

On June 7th, 2024, we went to Valley Forge Park which, according to Danny, was just going to be a time of doing devotions together and enjoying the summer weather. We had a deal that every date we went on this summer, we would both wear an outfit that we would want to get engaged in so that it wasn’t obvious the day of. After reading in the park for about an hour, Danny said we had to go to “dinner” with his family. Suspiciously, right before leaving, he said he had to go to the bathroom. So, I took it upon myself to make a video on my phone about how I thought he was going to propose that day (and that is a video I will cherish forever)! We got in the car and made our way out of the park. As we drove by Knox’s Quarters, Danny said that we should check it out because he had “never been there before.” We pulled in and he grabbed his backpack. At this point, I knew my suspicions were correct because he was acting a bit nervous and I knew that if he only wanted to stop and look at the place he wouldn’t be bringing his backpack with him. As we walked down the path, I saw a bunch of flowers placed on the ground and canvases set up with pictures and memories of our years together. Danny quickly put his stuff down and then led me over to where he set everything up. He read me a letter he wrote, which I am so glad I have because I think I blacked out, and then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said YES!! After taking some photos, he told me that we were actually going out to dinner with both of our families to celebrate! The happiness on that day was completely unmatched!
