Our Story

Luke and Emily didn’t meet because life was predictable — they met because neither of them could sit still long enough to choose the safe option. Both proudly left their hometowns with nothing but ambition, Google Maps, and mild overconfidence, repeatedly accepting jobs that sounded impressive but came with just enough uncertainty to make their parents nervous. They kept moving to new cities where they had zero friends, questionable furniture, and a habit of saying, “Why not?” to opportunities that probably required more bravery than they admitted. Somewhere between risky career moves, almost-declined job offers, and events they nearly skipped because staying home sounded easier, their paths finally crossed. It turns out all those leaps of faith weren’t just building résumés — they were quietly steering them toward each other. Their love story isn’t built on comfort; it’s built on courage, timing, and the shared realization that sometimes the biggest risks come with the best plot twists. From early on, we connected over coffee and beer on the beach in New Smyrna. Casual beach hangs turned into Luke’s first Christmas in Wisconsin, memorable concerts, traveling for weddings where we found our own love blooming. Then Hurricane Ian hit. Luke’s house flooded. Emily got a job offer. And just like that, the three of us packed up and headed to Nashville. Nashville fit us immediately. It fueled our love of coffee shops and breweries — every weekend trying somewhere new or returning to a favorite with our Kindles in tow or Rummikub tiles dramatically slammed on the table like it was a professional sport. Nashville was easy to call home. So easy, in fact, that we bought one. And buying a house felt a lot like saying, “Okay… this is real.” Then another wedding invitation arrived — this one in Italy. And Luke knew if we were flying across the world for love, it might be time to officially lock this down. Emily had absolutely no idea. On our first jet-lagged day in Rome, we wandered through Villa Borghese, the ring practically burning a hole in Luke’s pocket. We found a quiet spot near the polo field — trees stretching overhead, flowers in bloom, children laughing nearby, and a stylish gay couple chain-smoking on the bleachers like they’d been cast specifically for ambiance. Luke, somehow calm on the outside, said he wanted to spend the rest of his life listening to Emily talk. (A bold promise. One he may revisit later.) Emily, sensing something but not quite believing it, responded with a very romantic, “Shut the f*** up. No!” So he tried again. “Emily, will you marry me?” “No! …Wait. Yes!!” And just like that — another leap. Another risk. The easiest yes. And during all of this, Uzi napped. 🐾
