How We Met

1.11.20

Olivia and Cam first “met” on an online dating app, but it almost didn't happen. Cam had been off the app for quite some time, and in a spur of the moment around New Years Day, decided to turn his profile back on. Olivia had been only on it for a few days — and, as many people do, got very overwhelmed by it. She was going into the app to delete her account when Cameron's face showed up on her screen. Something about his profile seemed different than all the rest. Maybe it was the hiking photos showing how happy he was in his element, or him playing with his sweet dogs Murphy & Maizie, or how much he enjoyed The Lord of the Rings. Either way, Olivia knew she had to meet him. After weeks of nonstop communication, their first date was at Cafe Sasso in Rochester, NY. — Olivia's staple favorite in the city. By this point, Cam had lived in Rochester for 11 years, and Olivia for 6. One of the first things they realized was that they both grew up in New England. They even sat near each other at Muse concerts in Boston dating back to 2010! Despite all this, they had never crossed paths until this moment. And, when they did meet, they both agreed that they felt like they had "known" each other for a long, long time. They bonded over music, adventuring, the arts, and of course — The Lord of The Rings. They talked for so long that the cafe shut down and had to ask them to leave!

Love During Quarantine

3.11.20

Two months into their relationship, Covid hit. Cam, a trade show engineer, and Olivia, a wedding stationery photographer, both lost their jobs within a week of each other. It was a really difficult time, but they used it as an opportunity to get to know each other on a deeper level and make the most out of all the time on their hands. To avoid city life during a pandemic, they decided to temporarily move back to their respective hometowns, which just happened to be an hour and a half away from each other. They continued to expand their relationship by talking on the phone for hours, visiting every few weeks, and playing lots and LOTS of Animal Crossing. When their NY leases ended in the early summer, and still no sign of jobs returning, they decided to stay in New England and move in together! A few months later, Olivia fulfilled a long-time dream of spending a summer in Utah and staying with her cousin, Rebeccah. Cameron joined Olivia on the road trip out West. In Utah, after an amazing week of visiting Snowbird, the Salt Flats, Cecret Lake, and meeting some of Olivia's family, Cam flew back home. But it wouldn't be long before his return...

The Proposal(s)

9.28.20

While Olivia spent the summer living in Utah, Cameron was building a motorcycle to make the 2k+ mile trek from Boston to Salt Lake City with his grandmother's engagement ring. The summer was nearing its end, and the mountains in Utah were bursting with color the day Cameron strolled in on his bike. They were eager to get down to the desert and explore some of Utah's best parks: Escalante, Bryce, and Zion. However, Cameron left the ring in Salt Lake. It was too risky to bring it amongst the rocky landscape & car-camping life. When they arrived at the Overlook Trail at Zion National Park, taking in the amazing views of the canyon, Olivia joked "This would be a great place for a proposal!" And thats when Cameron pulled her off to a little remote area by the cliffside. No ring, no photos, no other people — just the two of them, alone in nature with a brilliant view. But it doesn't end there — Cameron proposed twice! The next day they came back up north to meet up with some photographer friends in the Wasatch mountains. This time with the ring, the nice outfits, and a pictures to document the moment. It was just as emotional and beautiful as the day before!
