With love and excitement, Savanna & Eddy
One evening in February 2014, Eddy was sitting with friends in Stuart, the freshmen dining hall at Boston College, and Savanna was coming back from BC Irish Dance practice with another friend who knew Eddy. She introduced them. Savanna asked Eddy about the dining hall smoothie he was eating that she had always been skeptical about (does something that has been frozen in a college dining hall for who knows how long really taste like a smoothie?). Eddy thought her questions were weird. Fast forward to a year later, and Savanna was roommates with the same friends Eddy was sitting with at Stuart that evening. Eddy often visited their suite, and after days spent studying organic chemistry, sharing bio lab notes, and many snow days inside from Boston's record-breaking snowstorm of 2015, Eddy and Savanna became friends. They bonded over their love of undercooked pancakes, the ocean, sushi, the need to always carry lip balm, and soon had their first date (on Valentine's Day at a sushi restaurant). Since then, they navigated the rest of college together, working as research assistants in Boston, being in grad schools 2000 miles apart (Savanna in the Bay Area and Eddy in Chicago), and finally ending four years of long distance to live in Atlanta for Eddy's research fellowship and Savanna's doctoral internship (plus a few break ups and getting-back-togethers in between). Savanna has learned all about Stanley Kubrick and his films, and Eddy has learned the patience of posing for photos and all of Ed Sheeran's music. On July 10, 2022, while Eddy was on a Kiefer family vacation to the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole, he asked Savanna to marry him with his grandmother's ring at a spot called the Wedding Tree (a fitting name). With tears of happiness and overwhelming excitement, Savanna said yes. As we stand on the threshold of a new chapter, we eagerly anticipate the days, months, and years ahead. Join us as we celebrate our love and the beginning of our lifelong adventure in Carmel-by-the Sea–a place that has always been special and a favorite to visit now even more meaningful. Our journey is just beginning, and we are thrilled to share every moment with our beloved friends and family. See you in California!
