Edith and Chris met through a dating app. The app showed Edith living in Everett, WA. Chris thought that it may have been a glitch, so he asked her if she was really in Washington. She said she was actually in Washington, but she would be visiting LA in the next few weeks for a Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin concert on November 18th, 2021. So they went on their first date the day after the concert. It was a 12+ hour long date beginning with brunch and ending with the Christmas Tree lighting at The Grove Shopping Center with fireworks. A few months later they became official at Santa Monica Pier in March 2022 and continued to date long distance while she lived in Everett and he lived in LA.

Edith visited Chris in LA for the weekend in March 2023 to take photos at the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Chris told Edith they would be going somewhere nice for lunch, so they went dress shopping the night before. What Edith didn’t know was that while she was in town, both of their parents were also in town to surprise her the next day at the proposal. While Edith and Chris were out shopping, their parents stopped by Chris’s place to pick up the ring and other supplies for the proposal. Chris was secretly texting his parents to let them know when to pick up the ring. The next day their parents arrived at Santa Monica Beach an hour early to set up the proposal spot for Edith and Chris. Their fathers laid down a heart in the sand made from fresh rose petals and placed the ring inside a long stemmed rose and laid it down at the bottom of the heart. It was so windy that they had to put sand on top of each petal so that the petals wouldn’t blow away. Edith and Chris arrived for lunch, but Edith saw that it was only a fast food cafe at the beginning of the boardwalk to the beach. So Chris asked her to take a walk on the beach. As they were walking towards the beach, their parents and friends were hiding under red umbrellas so Edith wouldn’t recognize them from a distance. As Edith and Chris approached the heart, everyone dropped their umbrellas to reveal themselves and Chris took Edith to the center of the heart to propose. After giving a 2 minute long speech, Chris got down on one knee and picked the rose to ask Edith to marry him. And she said “yes!”
