Ashley and Danny’s story officially began on move-in day at Purdue University in August 2017, but the spark actually started a little earlier. In the months leading up to college, both were active in social media groups for incoming Purdue students. When dorm assignments came out, fate had a funny sense of humor: Ashley ended up in her last-choice dorm, Owen Residence Hall, with Danny being assigned there as his preferred housing. Both joined a group for future Owen Hall residents. While Ashley was in the middle of trying to switch to her preferred dorm, Danny suggested creating a smaller group chat to get to know each other over the summer. Ashley agreed to join, and despite hardly ever sending messages herself, she couldn’t help but notice Danny’s funny and playful personality shining through. Seeing how fun and welcoming the group was, especially thanks to Danny, she decided, “Everything happens for a reason,” and stayed in Owen Hall. After move-in, Ashley and Danny quickly became close. They went on late-night walks around campus with friends, but over time, they found themselves lingering behind, turning those walks into their own little adventures...just the two of them, hand in hand. Their friendship blossomed into something more, and on September 17th, 2017, Danny asked Ashley to officially be his girlfriend in the stairwell of Owen Hall as he walked her back to her room. College was filled with laughter, adventures, and memories, as they built not only a life together but a circle of lifelong friends. In 2019, their family grew when Danny suggested stopping by a local shelter “just to look.” That visit ended with them adopting Bean, a senior bully breed mutt who quickly became the light of their lives. Bean’s arrival strengthened their bond and gave them their first taste of being a little family. After graduating in 2021, Danny moved to Indiana for his job, and their relationship grew even stronger outside of college. In 2022, they moved into their first rental home together, making it their own while continuing to explore life, go on dates, and plan for the future. On May 10th, 2025, Danny told Ashley he was taking her on a surprise date, which was far from unusual for the couple. Dressed up for the occasion, they drove to Holcomb Gardens, where Danny eventually got down on one knee and asked Ashley to marry him. Afterward, they headed to one of their favorite local breweries, where Danny had arranged for many of their closest friends and family to join them in celebrating their engagement. Looking ahead, Ashley and Danny are thrilled to begin this next chapter together, surrounded by the love and support of their friends and family. They can’t wait to celebrate their wedding day and continue building a lifetime of joy, laughter, and adventure side by side.
