We met sometime around Valerie's first birthday, although it wasn't until high school that we began dating in 2016. Our parents, Matt (Val's dad) and Jess (Jake's mom) have been lifelong friends since the fourth grade. We grew up seeing each other around at our families parties and campfires. Valerie distinctly remembers Jake and his brother Kade climbing onto the roof of the garage at her childhood home, and thinking that kid is crazy. Valerie moved to Virginia in 2009 and didn't see much of Jake until 2016 when she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. It was there that Jake and his family came for a short visit over spring break that started the very beginning of our relationship. Shortly after, Jake asked Valerie to go to his Junior prom with him, and the rest is history! We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to grow up together, and are excited to continue building our lives together as husband and wife.
