When We Met

4/3/2017 #yougottwochoices2020

A mutual friend had been trying to set us up for quite some time, unknown to Jasmine. Finally the stars aligned and he had arranged, on a Monday night, a one-sided blind date. I walked in the restaurant and found a seat at the bar. I ordered a cheeseburger and waited for our friend, Chris, to walk in with Jasmine. Meanwhile, on the car ride over Chris had broken the news that she was being set up on a blind date, like, right now! Fortunately for Jasmine she is always dressed for every occasion. With plans already in motion Jasmine bit the bullet and went with the flow of events. Just when my teeth were halfway sunk into the amazingly juicy cheeseburger Jasmine glided in to view at the doorway. As if by magic the two people sitting next to me paid their bill and left leaving two seats available! Chris introduces Jasmine and sat in the farther barstool leaving her no option but to sit next to me. Her smile lit the room and all I remember her saying was “Hi, I’m Jasmine.” My mouth may have had burger still in it while I mumbled a response that might have resembled my name. A few moments later my “A” game was in full play. It just so happens that the bartender was also my friend and might have went a little heavy on her whiskey sours. The night seemed to be going very well. Jasmine excused herself for a moment then Chris interjected “I know, you can thank me later. I am surprised at how well it’s going because we all know you have no game.” Moments later Jasmine returned and Chris suggested getting some food at the diner, since they only came for drinks. She turned towards me and said, “I’m going to the diner,” with a long pause and then continued, “You’re going to come.” She waited for my response but I didn’t have chance. With all the energy and confidence in the world Jasmine said, “You got two choices, and you better pick the right one!” all while shaking her fist. Needless to say, we are here now planning our wedding and looking to our amazing future ahead.
