Question

What's the weather like in October in Tennessee?

Answer

The weather in Tennessee can be very unpredictable. We attended a wedding in early October 2022 where it was 75 degrees, sunny, and pleasantly warm during the afternoon ceremony and 45 degrees by the time dancing started at 8pm. We're hoping for 65-75 degrees on October 5th! The reception will be inside a temperature-controlled space but the ceremony will be in an outside, uncovered area and the cocktail hour will be in a covered outdoor area.

Question

What is garden party attire?

Answer

Think cocktail party or business casual but with lighter colors and fabrics. Just like with business casual, it's hard to be "too formal" but it is easy to cross the "too casual" line. "Garden party attire is whimsical, dressy, and designed to be worn outdoors. It typically falls somewhere between a semi-formal dress code and cocktail attire, with breezy silhouettes and pastel colors that take inspiration from the surrounding blooms. This isn’t the time for dark hues or heavy fabrics!" https://greenweddingshoes.com/garden-party-attire-dress-code/

Question

What if I have accessibility concerns?

Answer

The venue was chosen in part because of its accessible nature. The parking lot is directly outside the venue and a very short walk to the entrance. Everything is wheelchair-accessible. For getting to the outdoors ceremony location, the path is paved, and you will only need to walk on grass when walking to your seat from the center aisle. We have access to the entire property for the evening, so if you ever get over-stimulated or need some alone time, please feel free to walk the grounds or hang out in one of the outdoor spots. Please reach out to Jules if you have any other concerns! As a social worker in training and disabled individual myself, it is important to me that you feel safe, comfortable, and welcome at my wedding.

Question

What if it rains?

Answer

The venue has a covered outdoor area that we can utilize for a rainy day ceremony. Don't worry--you won't be walking through mud!

Question

Can my kids or significant other come?

Answer

We were very intentional in choosing who to invite to this wedding. When you go to RSVP, it will bring up all the members in your party, and you will be able to see if you were granted a plus one. We love kids and want this to be a very family-friendly wedding, so if you have kids and we invited you, then your kids should also be included on your invitation. However, we know that while it makes it easier for some parents to be able to bring their kiddos, it makes it more challenging for others. Please choose what it is right for you and your family :) Depending on how many kids are included in the final RSVP count, we may set up a "kid's table." To be determined!

Question

Can you share any further guidance or fashion advice on what to wear?

Answer

Remember that your comfort is most important--and your ability to dance the night away in whatever outfit you choose :) But since you asked... Avoid: t-shirts, gym sneakers, flip flops, jeans, leggings, shorts, baseball hats, etc. If you want to bring more comfy shoes to change into for dancing purposes, we support this endeavor. Fashion/dress sneakers are a great all-day choice because of their style AND functionality. Vibes: lean into your daydreams about enjoying an afternoon tea in the English countryside, promenading at the park with the Bridgerton family, losing yourself in the botanical gardens or a good book, or attending Nashville's Swan Ball. Anything floral, bright, pastel, vivid, or nature-inspired, etc. will fit in well. Clothes with white bases and colorful patterns are a-okay. What would we consider the basic standard/bare minimum?: a button-down shirt paired with slacks or chinos and a tie/bowtie but no jacket, a blazer/jacket/sport coat + dress shirt + pants but no tie, a sundress or jumpsuit with nice shoes, etc. For more general guidance, try https://www.theknot.com/content/what-to-wear-summer-wedding For masc fashion guidance, try https://www.theknot.com/content/mens-wedding-guest-attire-summer, https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/fashion/article/cocktail-attire-dress-code-men For femme fashion inspiration (for adults and littles), check out the Jessa Kae clothing website, https://www.houseofharper.com/style/what-to-wear-to-a-garden-party/, https://www.justinecelina.com/what-to-wear-to-a-garden-party/

Question

Do I really need a rental car?

Answer

Nashville and the surrounding areas have very limited public transit and are not that walkable. We'd recommend you get a rental car for a guarantee that you WILL have a way to get around. While there are likely ~some~ restaurants in the Nashville, Cool Springs, and Franklin areas that you could walk to from a nearby hotel, I would not bank on it. You can absolutely get a Lyft or Uber from the airport to your lodgings. Once you get out to Cool Springs, Franklin, or Arrington, you risk not getting matched with a driver for 10-30 minutes or at all, so I'd suggest scheduling your rides ahead of time to guarantee you'll be covered.

Question

What's the parking situation? Should I plan on taking a Lyft/Uber?

Answer

Our venue has a paved parking lot with more than enough self-parking for all of our guests, so taking a Lyft/Uber is not necessary and entirely up to you. If you do decide to go the ride-share route, we advise scheduling your pick-up from the venue in advance on the app and for no later than 11 PM (when clean-up starts). If you wait until the night-of, you may have to wait 10-30 minutes for a ride.

Question

What is there to do in Nashville or Franklin?

Answer

This account has some great recommendations for things to do in Nashville, so regardless of what type of restaurant or activity you're looking for, you will find something that is up your alley! https://www.instagram.com/nashvillewithcaitlin/ Some of Edd and Jules' favorite spots to recommend are: --The Perch (brunch, crepes, and coffee/Brentwood) --Puffy Muffin (American breakfast and lunch, worth the wait, amazing bakery/Brentwood) --Prince's Hot Chicken (original hot chicken restaurant, Black-owned/Downtown, South Nashville/near Brentwood, La Vergne) --Puckett's (Southern/downtown Nashville, downtown Franklin) --Frothy Monkey (casual but tasty all-day cafe w/ coffee and bakery/Franklin, East Nashville, West Nashville, 12th South, Downtown) --Vui's Kitchen (Vietnamese/Franklin, South Nashville, East Nashville) --Jeni's Ice Cream (ice cream/Brentwood, Franklin, West Nashville, 12th South, East Nashville) --Red Bicycle Coffee & Crepes (sweet and savory crepes, coffee, gluten-free and vegetarian options/Brentwood-ish, Nolensville, North Nashville, South Nashville) --Sky Blue (American breakfast and lunch, worth the wait/East Nashville) --Coco's Italian Market (Italian/West Nashville) --Monell's (family-style Southern/Germantown) --Slim & Husky's (Pizza, Black-owned/North Nashville, Antioch) Franklin has a rich Civil War history. It was very much a Confederate town but was also occupied by Union soldiers for several years. During the Battle of Franklin, nearly every house in the area was used as a hospital, so the Franklin on Foot's Classic Walking Tour and Haunted Walking Tour are great ways to see the area and learn the history. There are also great areas to go hiking/walking nearby.
