It's on every "Things To Do in Portland" list for a reason! If you're a bookworm that's never been to Portland, this should absolutely be on your list.
Between the beer and the live music, McMenamins has always been close to our hearts. This location is Julie's favorite, because it's in her old neighborhood and has a big fireplace inside (she loves a dang fireplace).
Not in Portland, but well worth the trip across the Columbia into Vancouver. The tea shop also serves as an art gallery and is an important place in our hearts. We actually shot quite a few of our engagement photos here!
If you're in Vancouver visiting Dandelion, stop here as well! Hungry has great pizza (vegan or not, it's all tasty) and Thirsty has excellent cocktails. This was our second date location, and where we shared our first kiss.
This park is big! It's downtown! And it's right on the water, which is one of Kaitlyn's favorite places to be. For a good long walk, start in the park and then cross at the Steel Bridge to reach the Eastside Esplanade. You can cross back at either the Hawthorne Bridge or the Tilikum (we recommend the Tilikum, the newest Portland bridge).
A forest in the middle of the city! There are lots of beautiful trails at varying difficulty levels, and if you're staying downtown then you're already pretty dang close.
