Hi everyone,
We’ve had several people ask why we didn’t register for gifts, so we wanted to share a little more explanation. Because of the fire, we are currently working with insurance to replace many of our belongings. In order to be reimbursed, the insurance company requires us to purchase items ourselves and submit receipts.
If we registered for gifts, we would either end up with duplicates of items or lose the insurance reimbursement for them. There are also things insurance may not fully cover, though we won’t know exactly what until the process is complete.
If you would like to give a gift, we kindly ask that you consider contributing to our house fund instead. This will help us purchase items insurance may not cover once we are back in our home.
Of course, if you prefer to give a physical gift, we will be truly grateful. We just wanted to share our reasoning for doing things this way.
