The year is 2009 - it's high school, and Nicole is wearing her ankle cowboy boots and a floral dress living her Carrie Underwood fantasy (at the time). Dylan's outfit is less important, but rest assured he is looking equally as fashionable. It's the first day of school and 4th period rolls around, so it's time for Nicole (freshman) and Dylan's (sophomore) honors bio class to start. Yeah, you read that right: honors bio, because in this household we CHALLENGE ourselves. Having never met before, Dylan laid eyes on Nicole during class and walked up to her to say "hey Nicole, I like your boots" To which Nicole replied with the most sarcastic "...thanks?" imaginable. And that was the start of Nicole playing hard to get and Dylan playing even harder to get her. Throughout their early years of high school, a particular friendship formed between the two. Nicole handled her secret crush on Dylan by acting like a jaded bitch. Dylan, meanwhile being the angel he is, did everything in his power to win Nicole over (spoiler alert: it took 2 years, but he was successful)!

On the night of August 6th 2022 (or dare we say early morning hours of August 7th), Nicole was invited last minute to a show at the Brooklyn Mirage with her friends. Despite a "planned brunch" the next day as a cover for the proposal, Dylan had no choice but to just hope for the best. Nicole naturally didn't get home until 4am while Dylan stressed laying awake the whole time until she returned home, worried she'd be hungover for what awaited her the next morning. As Nicole got into bed very early in the morning, she fell asleep reviewing the restaurant's menu and dreamt of the cacio e pepe she planned to order at brunch the next morning. Several hours later, that same morning on August 7th they both got ready for "brunch". Nicole still did not suspect a thing. Dylan took out their dog Jackson, "called the uber" and both walked out to leave. As Dylan was about to open the front door, he kissed her and turned around to ask "are you ready?" To which Nicole replied, "for cacio e pepe? Hell yeah!" Dylan opened the door to their stoop flooded with candles and flowers. At this moment, Nicole realized she was not going to get her cacio e pepe. She was absolutely floored and had zero idea Dylan was planning all along to get down on one knee on August 7th. After Nicole said yes, both of their families popped out from behind the cars and warmly embraced the happy couple. Shortly to follow was an amazing afternoon celebrating at their local favorite bar with friends and family. This truly was one of the best days of their lives, and it was extraordinarily special to get engaged right on the doorstep of their first apartment together. Their first home together where they grew more and more in love, birthed/got a son, made deep and lasting friendships, and forever changed their lives in the best way possible.
